One of the greatest games ever created seconded only by Zelda OoT.
If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing
(mostly)
And shepherds we shall be,
For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints
well i am a "westerner" that things japanese makes better things,
hell even sales wise we are being killed by the japanese.
=P
I remember I used to be all about JRPGs until this gen, when I realized how awful they are in comparison to WRPGs. I tried playing some of the ones this gen then went back to try to replay some of my PS2 ones and I felt the whole time like I needed to go back to being a teenager to enjoy them.

I know I am. More developers need to be more like Capcom.
Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

It took awhile for WRPGs to have the break out success of JRPGs in the West, however, because 1. WRPGs were confined mostly to the PC realm for quite some time, while JRPGs first made it big on consoles, and 2. WRPGs were never really taken and pushed to the forefront of people's attention by one of "the Big Three". Sony's marketing campaign for FFVII really helped push the JRPG genre back in the ps1 days. In the end, it's apparent that Western developers are more in-tune with what Western gamers might want, and this is why WRPGs are so popular today. Of course, that notion should be quite obvious, unless Western gamers are somehow capable of enjoying RPGs but are not capable of making any decent ones themselves. |
WRPG's can be crack for the whole world. WOW has caused deaths and people to get into trouble around the world. Have you seen WOW conventions in Korea? Jesus Christ! Asians love western folklore and WRPG's made off of them (usually on PC) with Warcraft and WOW.

Japanese take western concepts that were given up on and capitalize on it. American car companies destroyed their chance to be the most advanced car makers. They had the patents for quick, soundless and emissionless electric car, but they fucked it up because the oil companies bought the patents, forcing us the depend on oil. America of all the western nations is one of the most internally sabotaged places from within because a small group of greedy people who tell us what we can and cannot buy. The Japanese took over based on the fact that so many things we had were dropped.

Capcom has appealed to the west and the east alike because their character make more sense.

You should play more jrpgs like Tales of Vesperia. Check this video out (watch the whole thing)
