Forums - Sales - PS3 To outsell Xbox 360 if theres a price cut?

As retarded as the claims he made in the article are....I think "PS3 to Outsell the Xbox 360 if there's a price cut?" is a no brainer. I mean when it was $400 vs $350, the PS3beat out the 360 week in and week out. If they were at price parity...done deal

Ok , I get your meaning. The 360 DID NOT have a fantastic holiday. If you insist, I'll believe you I guess.

So basically you're ignoring the fact that the 360 has outsold the PS3 by about 500,000 units AFTER the holidays? He never denied the 360 having a great holiday (which it obviously did). Not to mention the PS3 is down YoY and the 360 is up.

If you mean at the same point in the consoles' lifetimes, then yes the PS3 is doing better. But that doesn't guarantee the PS3 will sell more than the 360 in the end.

someone is picking cherries since kowenicki's highlight includes "Microsoft's lead remains strong mainly due to their fantastic holiday sales" and kowenicki typed "wrong, wrong, wrong".

The bold part is what the was looking for. That's why the stated "I thought they had a fantastic holiday sale, so sorry you don't see it that way."

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

The PS3 is actually slowly gaining marketshare (all this year) on the 360 -- I believe that's what the article is referring to, not raw numbers (which are really pretty meaningless, in the end).

In any case, obviously its true that, when the PS3 drops in price, there's a good chance it will start outselling the 360 (raw sales), perhaps even by a large margin. That's not exactly a difficult conclusion, given the current sales trends.

Was this ever seriously in doubt?  Reversing the raw numbers advantage the 360 has over the PS3 is another story altogether.

Another thing people forget is the PS3 is actually gaining more ground each passing day, Sony is selling more consoles each year than Microsoft is, although Microsoft's lead remains strong mainly due to their fantastic holiday sales. Notwithstanding I think that if Sony does a price slash for their PS3 system, their sales will go beyond what the Xbox 360 has achieved so far, people who want to buy it obviously aren't because of the price...people who want to buy Xbox 360's already have.

wrong, wrong, wrong

so it will stop selling right.... NOW... then

Journalism of a fanboy nature....

zero credibility

Sony = PSP + PS3 + PS2

MS = X360

On topic: surely PS3 would outsell X360 with a pricecut, but not enough to outsell X360 LTD unless MS console suffers a early death (let's say about 2011) or PS3 lasts far into next gen.

ASSUMING Microsoft doesn't also cut its price, right?  If Microsoft matches price cut on the PS3, why would the PS3 outsell the 360?  How about a $50 price cut across the board, matched my Microsoft?  The 360 low end is now around $150.  Why would the PS3 outsell the 360 at this point?

How am I picking cherries? kowenicki was right about that part, the 360 has continued to outsell the PS3 after the holidays so it is wrong, wrong, wrong. I was telling The how kowenicki never denied MS having a good holiday. I don't know how he came to that conclusion.

kowenicki, do you think MS had a bad holiday season?

I'm sure Sony is working hard to find a way to drop the price of the PS3 without leaving Sony so far in the red they can't repay their short term debt, (which is the main problem for Sony right now).

Good news for Sony is it looks like credit markets are actually lending again so Sony should be able to refinance their debt, which should allow a price cut. But they may choose to wait until next year and hope the Yen stabilizes a little.

Another thread by one of the fastest growing b_e_l_i_e_v_e_r_s. Seriously, try taking off the fanboy goggles. Posting misinformed opinion makes you look very immature by association.

Playing: Borderlands(great co-op,HUGE amount of content),Too Human(better late than never lol),Saints Row 3(Penetrator ftw),Minecraft 360,Harry Potter Lego.

Patiently waiting for:  Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2

MS will do price cut too.....

cheaper hardware .....
sony thinks 1000th times before thinking about price cut

Sony should just ignore the losses and go with a PS3 price cut. They could blame the billion dollar losses they're likely going to experience on the recession rather than bad decisions made in the past.
