^So there will be 2 seperate AC games? But surely they wouldn't both release at the same time, in Q4 2009? That would make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

2 Assassin's Creed games! Hopefully they will both be completely unique so I can get them and the console versions

But I hope for Ubisoft's own sake they aren't releasing them simultaneously, that would be a huge mistake for the sales, so I think one of them will be delayed into Q1 2010.

Of course not. But I would still like to wait for clarification, IGN said Silent Hill: Shatterd Memories was a Wii exclusive...and we know how that turned out.

If it's the same game on PSP as everything else it will be inferior to the other versions. If so it'll bomb badly, even for a PSP game...

It was already announced:

• Assassin’s Creed™ PSP Entertainment Pack – Ubisoft will debut an exclusive installment of the popular Assassin’s Creed franchise on PSP later this year. To commemorate this highly anticipated title, SCEA will launch a new bundle that includes the game, a “Piano Black” PSP, and other content that will be announced later.

Note how it isn't Assassin's Creed 2. If there is Assasin's Creed 2 in development for PSP, I don't think UBI will release it this year, it would be insane.

Smart decision by Ubisoft, exclusive installment was really the only way to go.
