Forums - Sales - Microoft Burns $50 million dollar hole in their wallet

1 million copies...app. $20 million revenue. They paid for TWO episodes. If the next episode sells same, then they lose $10 mil. Still alot, but certainly not 50 mil.

actually the guy means that they wasted $50 million

That deal will also help xbox live subscriptions it was money well spent, don't forget more content is coming, so I wouldn't jump and say it was a waste of money.

At the end of the day we still don't know what the revenue sharing deal is, how many copies it could sell in the future through various means, or even how many copies it has sold to date. That whole, long, stupid article is based on guess after guess.

How do you know the sales wouldn't have worked out more in favor of the PS3 if Ms hadn't struck this deal? The entire OP is speculation and opinion.

yes

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

He doesn't mention the scenario of it being a loan. Which is, in all likelihood, the correct one.

If sales of the DLC had been phenomenal then trust me you would know an exact number. The top brass at MS would have it tattooed on their forehead. No doubt the sales for the content were lackluster and Pacher's guestimate is generous. 1 million sold MAYBE. What really happened is:

1. The content came out too late, GTA4 was the event of 2008, not 2009.
2. A few episodes were not enough to convince games to drop the 20 bones.

Now you look at this and the trash Fallout 3 DLC and realise that it takes a lot of time and money to make a quality game and 50 million dollars would have been better spent on new IP's. This DLC cost more then Gears of War and Uncharted combined. And I think it's the main reason that 360's first party lineup is weak as hell this year.
