Forums - Nintendo - Virtua Tennis HandsOn: "I understand our competitors are using... buttons?"

I was going oogly googly over this, until I saw that you have to point the remote at the character after every single shot in order to recalibrate the controller... Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Hopefully it isn't too annoying. I really hope one of these tennis games turns out to be great, I would love to play a perfect WM+ tennis game!

Pleasant torture indeed. Not one but two outstanding tennis options to choose from. I know I'm picking up Tiger Woods day 1 (looks amazing) but I'll wait for both critic and personal reviews of Virtua and Grand Slam before deciding which one to get.

"I understand our competitors are using... buttons?" LOL

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

"You need to point at your player to re-calibrate the controller between shots, but aside from that, it's entirely transparent."

Improvements are caused by people who complain

No! Menu options will come with options for waggle! "To enter a match, waggle as hard as you can when you hear the beep".

OT: Sounds good, though I wonder if we will now have to call a Tennis elbow a Wii elbow or vice versa... Hmm...

It might actually be really difficult to pull off all the moves in VT but we'll see

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
