This guy Kollers a headcase.

What double standard? I thought it was common knowledge that Sony doesn't pay for exclusivity for games, they might take over as publisher and fund the projects but never go straight out and just write a cheque. |
So MS pays to have the exclusivity and let them live the way they want... what is the problem with that ?
It is a true Business Partnership.
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
"and Microsoft and other manufacturers probably lead a little bit when they’re writing cheques about how they feel about their own internal line-up."
Other manufacturers? I can't see anyone accusing Nintendo of moneyhatting. Nintendo's problem if anything is that they put too little pressure on devs.
So maybe he means Apple? Anyone heard rumours that Apple moneyhatted? Also, this is a good day for the Iphone if that was who he was refering to - you know you've entered the big league when others start talking shit about you

I'm noticing that Sony usually starts these fights, but then Microsoft starts playing dirty, and Sony does the same, until they both get bored and give up. |
I've noticed that as well, seriously. Sony PR needs to stop right away because it's becoming embarrassing. Sony is in that situation where they really should stop poking microsoft and focus more internally. They've gone though some massive shifts in management and now should be a time to worry about sony, not microsoft. If 2009 thus far is any indictation, microsoft doesn't really have awhole lot to throw at sony's direction so now is the perfect time to work on what they are doing, expanding features, catering to the consumer, blah blah blah. Not worrying about what microsoft is doing.
Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?
I wouldn't say it's a self-perceived lack of first party strength. Lionhead, Rare, and Turn 10 are some kick ass studios. But they can hardly support a console all on their own.
And at least he admitted Sony has bought games, too, putting to rest that old canard.

His job could be in danger coz he was told to shut up....
LOL he's just jealous of microsofts ability to do that,
LOL
Its merely different strategies to achieve the same thing.
They both try to gain exclusive games on their consoles, Sony by running its own studios which gives it more say in the development and long term can bring in large gains but can also cause larger losses by a struggling studio. Microsoft prefers to buy individual games from independent studios which gives it the chance to choose a game already on the way to completion and brings in an instant game and runs the risk of losses game by game.
Both are valid ways of attempting the same thing.

I can feel a response from Greenburg coming on, which obviously will be worse

Agreed.
