I'd get a PS3, unless you actually have the time to play through new games faster than they come out, and the current library isn't large enough to keep you entertained for a long while. If you have a lot of gamer time, get a PS2, because it'll keep ya occupied for a long stretch... although I can tell ya you will feel pangs of regret over not getting the PS3.

He will have saved $300 if he buys a PS2 at $99 now with more games than a PS3 at $399 with a much smaller library of games.

Wait for PS3 to drop to $299 before the end of the year. I will wait for PS3 to reach $199 price point.

I personally would not pay more than $200 on a console. I bought every console I ever owned at or below $200. I bought my first PS2 the other day at $99.

At the end of the day the price of any product to most people is the most significant factor in making a purchase decision.

Xxain- 2 Epic games>1 Epic game!

Gnosis- I have plenty of gamer time, so the ps2 could be more useful there...

SickleSigh- there's not enough cash to buy both... >_>

Procrastinato- I may get a ps3 later though, after a ps2! ^_^

Numonex- I agree!

Okay, I guess it'll be ps2 first, to get those games. (With the 60GB ps3, I don't like buying secondhand stuff, unless I really need it) And then, later on, get a ps3 when the price gets more reasonable.

I guess (most) of you can agree with this? Yeah, that's pretty good...

Thanks again peoplez! ^_^

Its strange that people perceive the cost of the console as the major expense in gaming. I see it as the cost of the games, in the end.

I guess that's why I see my 360 as being the most expensive console I own. I like online games, and that dang XBL Gold fee adds up to a couple missed used titles a year for me on my PS3. The other day I wished I had CoD4 on my PS3, since I let my XBL Gold run out for that reason. *shakes fist at MS*

In any case, used/clearance PS3 games aren't really much more spendy than PS2 games, especially since all the good PS2 games are hard to find or expensive. I see buying a PS2 as a waste of would-be PS3 money, not saving money, unless you dig RPGs (like I do), then you should definately buy a PS2, without question.

Nice. You made the right choice by picking PS2.

I recently finally got once and tons of great games for $5-15 :D

Hell I bough DMC 3 pack for $20. If you never had a PS2 skip PS3 for now.

Thats one way to look at it but if he has no interest in anything in the ps3's current library, then it would be a waste saving for ps3. Better safe than sorry. I won't want a thread asking where he can sell his ps3 like most people who don't know what suits their purposes.

I'd get the ps3
