He will have saved $300 if he buys a PS2 at $99 now with more games than a PS3 at $399 with a much smaller library of games.
Wait for PS3 to drop to $299 before the end of the year. I will wait for PS3 to reach $199 price point.
I personally would not pay more than $200 on a console. I bought every console I ever owned at or below $200. I bought my first PS2 the other day at $99.
At the end of the day the price of any product to most people is the most significant factor in making a purchase decision.
