Yeah that's plausible as a competiting product.  The Halo MMO was in prototyping and very early dev but it got cancelled.  I think they changed their minds

Oh god Halo MMO!! the halo story is so amazing there is so much they could do with it. If this is done right it could be the most amazing game ever. I would kill for this game to come out

Halo Wars is the best selling consoles RTS with over 1 Million units sold in a little over 1 months time, so I would say it was a great success.

Microsoft is developing technologies to run MMO's on Xbox LIVE without any lag, and a Halo MMOFPS with connected communities between Consoles, Web & Mobile would be HUGE.

 Its the single best selling console rts ever and its averaging 82 on metacritic.com.

I doubt Microsoft made any money with Halo Wars because it only sold 1 million. The ad push for the game was huge, and no doubt the budget was big too.

It definitely sold below most expectations. hell, I remember when I said I was expecting Halo Wars to sell only 2 millions and I got shot by some people saying I was selling it short and Halo Wars would sold well over that.

you do know that ms wont get the entire purchase cost. they only get like $10 of it.
