I ask this for two reasons:

1) Wii Sports Resort is releasing in June & July worldwide.

2) Pretty much everything confirmed/semi-confirmed is "big" but not "Wii Sports Resort" big - especially in Japan.

There are like ten major projects for Wii as far as I can tell that could 'hold the fort' after Wii Sports Resort launches with Motion Plus in the summer. But who knows how many will release in 2009? Others could show up at E3 but these are the most likely candidates for Nov-Dec if Wii Sports Resort comes out in June/July

1) Mario & Sonic at the Winter Games.

2) Pikmin 3. Known to be in development.

3) Zelda Wii. Known to be in development.

4) Monster Hunter 3

5) DJ Hero

6) The Beattles: Rockband

7) Guitar Hero...whatever the Christmas one is called

8) One of the new Nintendo IP on here from page 9 (Cosmic Walker, etc)

9) Red Steel 2?

10) TMNT Fighter?

If I had to guess I'd suspect the big new titles by region for the second half of 2009 will be:

Japan:

- Monster Hunter 3 (August-October?)

- Tales of Grace (July-September?)

- Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics w/ M+ capacity (Oct-Dec)

- Pikmin 3 w/M+ capacity (Sept-Nov)

- Kirby Wii (Nov-Dec)

- RE (Oct-Nov)

Americas/Others:

- Wii Sports Resort w/ M+ Capacity

- Beattles: Rockband

- DJ Hero

- Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics w/ M+ capacity

- Pikmin 3 w/ M+

- Red Steel 2 w/ M+

- Cosmic Walker?

- Guitar Hero next

- RE

- Dead Space

- TMNT Fighter

But does Nintendo really need anything bigger than Wii Sports Resort for Xmas 2009?

wii doesn't need anything bigger for xmas.
look at wii fit, it released in may last year yet it sold better than most games during the Christmas season and it is the best selling game so far this year!!!

MH3 should not be as big as Wii Sports Resort in Japan. I predict the later will sell over a million. Mario and Sonic and Wii Sports Resort should both be massive titles in Europe. Wii Sports Resort should be the biggest title in NA unless you combine the HD sales of the new Call of Duty, either way it will be the biggest Nintendo title in NA.

Bigger than Wii Sports Resort? I doubt it. Even the next main Mario, Zelda, Mario and Sonic at the winter olympics will not be as big as WSR

Games like Pikmin 3, Red Steel 2, Kirby, Monster Hunter, Tales of Gracia will not hold a candle to WSR in terms of sales

Mario Party 9 is probably their big xmas title.

They must be planning something big or they would hold off on Wii Sports resort.

I think Nintendo is going to have something huge in store for us. Hell they already announced a new zelda.

Wii Sports Resort is the biggest console title of the year so that is pretty huge.  The Zelda is just a DS game.
