Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft and Sony combine forces in new anti-Apple commercial

The ads won't stop anyone who wants to buy a Mac from buying a Mac.

Their 10% niche market isn't going to be swayed by value and until common public perception of Apple products changes, bitter fringe haters excluded (really; if you don't use the Mac OS, or never owned a Mac, why would you even care).

It's not a coincidence that the same 10% of the market is skewed heavily towards higher end customers, who obviously want Apple products based on sales and growth as a hardware manufacturer.

It is pretty sad that MS has basically given up trying to push the virtues of Vista or Windows and have simply switched to just trying to promote PCs that have Windows pre-installed without any mention of the OS features (every one of these ads focus on hardware features).

My main beef with these ads is that they educate people into just looking at the big numbers (screen inches, ram, hard disk) ignoring things like chipsets, bus speeds, screen resolution, battery life, etc.

It's like the megapixel centered marketing for digital cameras.

I thought it was corny..

Also, you make it seem like Sony and Microsoft are rivals on the PC front.. they're not.

Imagine if Sony made their own OS. :P

Pixel Art can be fun.

I have a feeling this one is going to be controversial...especially considering Microsoft's previous stance on Blu Ray...

blu ray use VC-1 codec,..    VC-1 is the informal name of the SMPTE 421M video codec standard initially developed by Microsoft. It was released on April 3, 2006 by SMPTE. It is now a supported standard for HD DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, and Windows Media Video 9.

Although widely considered to be Microsoft’s product, there are actually fifteen companies in the VC-1 patent pool,..

'' Business is business'' only a few ''fans losers'' think otherwise,..

Vaio use windows ,sony and m$  are lover  ,.   wake up

''Halo reach''.. sell 7.m first week ,Believe¡¡¡¡¡¡

I bet they don't even know what Blu Ray is. And I doubt that VIAO cost less than $1500. That's one Sony product I'll never buy

The first one was better...

Oh noes they could team up against nintendo too :O

they "bought"/sorta a Sony Vaio. I don't know why it is, but my friend and I have the worse personal IT experience with Viao. There two things about Viao that come to mind.

1. Wow what excellent design, features and performance for the price.
2. They are the biggest pile of broken laptops sitting in various office buildings more than any other laptop.

I once tried to see if I could put together a working laptop from broken ones. Suffice to say the amount of Sony Viao there were enough that used the same parts I was able too. Let alone they were out piled the others around 8:1.

It's like the original PSP. Great product for the price, but flimsy as hell. This is not something you want for portable. At least the people didn't pay for it.

Also on note of the commercial. That is probably one of the better and worst ways to do a commercial. Show real people in real like circumstances and show them enjoying the product. It's very real and more inspiring to a shopper. To be fair though they didn't notably put down Apple except for the price. Backing that up I've rarely come across a broken Apple laptop. You don't get much feature out of it, but it typically on average a more solid machine when compared to a Vaio.

ms and sony design the console....sony build the console...ms make the controller....ms do the business deals

that could work.

OT

Why do people think ms dont like bluray? When sony lost the beta-vhs war did they sulk and not make vhs players? of course not. companies dont act like fanboys. Oh..and for one last time blu-ray is NOT sony's.

Oh hell no!! If the xbox controller was what I had to use, I would hate it. M$ needs to stay in the software business. Sony make the hardware and Nintendo and M$ make the software. Sony actually use the hardware for other things and it helps to drive those costs down. DVD for PS2, BD/Cell for PS3. Sony is a hardware company. M$ is not.
