Forums - Sony - what´s you´re opinion about valkyrie Chronicles ?

the only way its comparable to fire emblem is the phase in between battles.. you too have a camp.. or base.. there you can level up your classes with the exp you earned during battle and buy new weapon upgrades ,equip and swap equipment and learn new "spells"

the only game it really is similar to would be ring of red for the ps2 you take turns with you mechs on the 2d map just like any other srpg but once you enter combat you get to control your mech aim, and fire before you run out of moves

it's an awesome game, has a hilarious faggot, but is an awesome lancer...I'd say it's one of Sega's little gems of greatness.

QFT!!! Although you could have expressed yourself a little bit differently lol.

As far as the game goes I have only played the demo but came away very impressed. I have never been into SRPG's but I can see myself spending many hours on this gem of a game.

If I would have a PS3, this would be the first ( and only-ok, Superstardust HD would make it, too (great soundtrack)) game I would buy.

I WANT THIS FOR XBOX360!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall I'm finding it very fun. But I have a few problems with it, one that was mentioned is the drastic rewards you get for speed. The first few levels I played tactically, making sure no one got killed, and advancing my team together as i pushed the enemy back. I would always get the lowest rank for completing the mission. Now I just put all my buffs on one scout, and run them to the victory point to get the highest rank and the most bonus. The other thing is how the level makers seemed to like to add in events that would just cause you to fail if you hadn't played before, which was no fun. Like there's one level where you have to sneak through a town at night, with no tank. I go through it carefully, and get right to the end with the main character, and end my turn. Then a lancer walks around the corner of a wall and kills him in one shot and ai have to start all over. WTF was a lancer doing there anyways?! there's no way to get a tank even close to that spot, and you don't even get to use one! Of course this was before I realized you could save in the middle of a battle, which makes the game a lot easier. I don't think I've played a tactical rpg where you could save mid battle.

VC is a very good game, but not for everybody (I mean it won't excite most people at first glance, or even after a 2nd one). Story is great but its development is rather slow, and much of it (first and seconday character development) is left for side-events (nothing wrong with this but you must be aware of this). Overall is a very satisfying experience especially for those who like "teenager JPRGs" in general and like the strategic-action approach.

I don't disgree with much in your post, but to nitpick for a second:  I just bought the game during the gamestop sale, and the first day I was playing it a friend who generally only likes Dark and Badass™ RPGs came over to try it out.  He pointed out that it's one of the only anime-styled games he's ever played where the main character is as old as 22 and acts like a 22 year old.  I don't know if "teenager JRPGs" is a particular genre that this game could be included in, but it's interesting to see a story about older than usual characters.  (It's also funny that 22 is old for a JRPG, but there it is.)

At about fifteen hours into the game, I have to say this has so far become my favorite JRPG this generation, even beating Tales of Vesperia, which I played through in multiplayer and loved.

For the bad points, Torillian said pretty much everything I was going to.  This is one of those games where the bad points don't really tell you much, because so much of the game is surprisingly new and unique or simple and well-executed that you end up more dissatisfied with the things it only does about average than you do with the insignificant bad points.

I will say that the anime characteristics of the story don't entirely transcend the cliches that we expect from most JRPGs these days, which can be a little jarring when mixed with a WWII setting.  Despite that the setting is a huge plus, because it's so different from anything you've seen in a JRPG, and everything else in the game, including the combat system, rises to the challenge in order to create a totally unique gameworld.
