It'll be some time, but they will come. This whole process will be accelerated once Nintendo stops selling the DS of course.

Nintendo has OFFICIALY confirmed that some games will be DSi exclusive at retail, in fact theri will be now 4 categories of DS games.
- Normal DS games: can be played on any system.
- Dual DS games: can be played on any system, but have some exclusive DSi feautres
- DSi Ware: can only be play on DSi and need to be downloaded.
- DSi only: retail games that can only be played on DSi.
Hopefully never. If they plan to do this, they should have called it a new console (like GB -> GBA).

But, they did the same thing with the DS and DSi as the Gamboy and Gameboy Color. And they had exclusive GBC games, although it was just and update to the old gameboy.

I stand corrected -_-
I expect DSi-only games to remain in the downloadable realm. Nintendo, nor 3rd parties, will want to alienate 100 million regular DS users.
As for retail DSi-only games... I'll believe it when I see them.

From a technical standpoint, there are DSi-only games already.
Not retail ones, though.
