TheSource- very interesting. Japan will be quite the battleground as of late. Monster Hunter G and FFXIII demo will be quite the first battle. Then Golden Week right behind it. I think Wii will definitely have the advantage in Golden Week considering it is still the dominant brand but after that it's really no man's land. Who will hold up better and who will fall. But Wii Sports Resort will be quite the big release and that could possibly settle things. If Wii doesn't increase greatly from it on a weekly basis then what hope is there for Monster Hunter 3. Or if it does with Monster Hunter 3 shortly after, then what hope is there for PS3 in the long run. Not to mention that will all be shortly after both companies E3 2009 conference which could have some announcements that affect the Japanese markets. Such as a Gran Turismo 5 announcement of Pikmin 3 announcement for starters.
But like I've stated a few times it is an up and down battle until something releases that furthers the brand on one side. Wii is still the dominant brand. Even with all of this, no other brand has even touched it as they haven't really done anything during Wii's downtime. But still it has left the brand fragile. Meaning anything could really push it either way. Monster Hunter G could push it in its favor although unlikely while the FFXIII demo could deteriorate it further. Even more logical, Wii Sports Resort could be the determinant. Everything else are still key releases but right now it looks like it could be in the hands of those 3 as to who will get through the early spring into the summer.
Nice to see a close battle every now and then eh. Makes it a little more exciting. And better a 2 man race than a 3. Convenient for both PS3 and Wii that 360 is falling back again.
