Forums - Gaming - Do you prefer to play SRPG on a handheld or home console?

I love SRPG but after playing Fire Emblem Path of Radiance my first home console SRPG I can say I much prefer playing on handhelds. Something about it doesnt click and after viewing gameplay of PS2 SRPG I dont understand why the hell they are there instead of one handhelds. All those 2D games from NIS or Nippon Icchi or whatever should be on handhelds imo.

Ive got a good amount of DS SRPG to play through so Im not really bitching Im just not gonna play any PS2 SRPG. Only console SRPG I'll ever play will be Fire Emblem mainly because I love the series.

Home console.

1) I hate handhelds

2) SRPG battles take forever anyway for most games. If i'm going to spend 30+ minutes doing something... I may as well be relaxed.

Definitely handhelds. Advance Wars, Disgaea, Jeanne D'Arc, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Fire Emblem, Rebelstar Tactical Command, Shining Force Feather, Civilization Revolution, Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume, etc. The list goes on and on. They just lend themselves better for strategy titles, especially the DS.

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

Handhelds for sure.

When I play a SRPG/TBS game on a console, I can never play more than a couple missions at a time before I have to stop. It's even happening to me with Valkyria Chronicles at the moment.

Handhelds, cheaper and typically much more challenging.

Home console, all other things being equal. But I like both!

Home console. For basically the same reason Kasz216 said.

I hate handhelds. No time to play them while driving or at work or out with friends or running errands. Which basically means I only have time to play them at home where I would rather play on my nice, big, widescreen TV with surround sound on a home console.

Never played an SRPG but I guess if I would I´ll choose handhelds.

Handhelds. Mainly because I play SRPGs to pass time, not get into them like I would a console RPG.

Currently playing: Marvel vs. Capcom 3, League of Legends

This is one genre where I have no particular preference, provided that the game has a quicksave feature.
