| cgnobody said: please final_fan, hardware may be more expensive but they make up for it in software. Because there's more titles, more content on the titles, and it is CHEAPER. When bioshock was released it was 59.99 (excluding tax) here in the states, and its PC counterpart was available for 39.99 (excluding tax) eventually you'll get more for your munnies. and when new, more advanced titles start to come out you simply upgrade a few things, not pick up your console, trash it, and buy another one. and you are correct. i was refering to the fact that console versions have, ore than often, lacked minor to major amounts of content included on the PC version. and what a piss poor comment, as to refer to me as ignorant. save that self-loathing shit for another thread, if you would be so kind. i simply stated what I, underline I, felt the qualifications for an exclusive title were. i don't remember asking your approval. you could only have changed my opinion with a hard fact. and if it even nearly was considered an exclusive don't you think microsoft would have attached an ONLY ON XBOX 360 marking on it? well guess what they don't for PC PORTS!!!!!! examine the facts before you come running in with nothing intelligent to say. no one likes a jerk. |
You want facts? How about:
1. PC doesn't get that many more QUALITY games than the consoles; but it does get thousands and thousands of shitty titles. One major advantage the PC does have, though, it that it is a comparative dream for little independent publishers. XBLA has only begun to address this gap.
2. A port with added content has absolutely nothing to do with it being on the PC. When RE4 ported from Gamecube to PS2, it got extra content, just like hundreds of other ports.
3. This is true, but you would have to buy dozens of games to make up for point 4.
4. Yes you do have to get entire new consoles every 5-7 years, but the fact is that it's still way cheaper than keeping your computer up to date for the latest games. This would probably be true -- through all of console gaming history -- even if you bought every single major console to hit the market, at launch price (except the PS3, which I mentioned earlier as a price anomaly).
5. I did not set out to belittle you with insults; I said that your post (not you yourself, a crucial difference) was ignorant because I believed that it ignored or was oblivious to (what I saw as) obvious realities, which is the definition of ignorant.
6. I never, NEVER said that your opinion about what exactly an exclusive is was wrong; in fact I clearly stated that I might well agree with you more than the person you were responding to. But I felt that the arguments you used to support that opinion were very mistaken.
Examine what someone has said before attacking what they said.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.
