Forums - Sales - *SURPPRISE* Nintendo Wii has the highest attach rate of the three!!!

Doesn't surprise me. That's what happens when something becomes so popular that it "defies" a basic paradigm. People are wet in the pants for motion control and being part of the crowd that has a Wii that its become a runaway success.

I personally can't stand most of the games on the Wii. Wii-mote motion control is a crappy idea for almost every genre, making even the simplest of tasks highly annoying. If it weren't for VC I would have sold my wii months ago.

@WereKitten: Propably the same as it does when removing the bundled software from other platforms.

...

It's not exactly the same. Every single Wii sold out of Japan came bundled with Wii Sports. Not all 360 and PS3 sold were in bundles, some of them were movie bundles etc. They would need to be adjusted too, but we don't have distinct data about the bundled sales.

We have those for the Wii, and I was wondering what would happen of the TWO/SW total charts if you cut them.

Does this mean that LTD the Wii has a higher attach ratio or that Jan08-Dec08 it had the highest attach ratio?

The second; sorry, can't change the title.

I would have expected that 2008 would have gone to the Wii in that department due to Wii Fit, Brawl, Kart, etc...

Really?!

On HD in 2008:

MGS4, GTA IV, LBP, Dead Space, Call of Duty 5, Soul Calibur IV, GoW2, Resistance 2, Prince of Persia, etc, etc, etc

@linkzmax

Sorry, I read your post again; english is not my native language (thinks he saves it)

I am talking about when looking at sales right now, not from the lineup before the year started.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

@WereKitten: But that would twist the results. That way all the bundles are count in. Besides, Wii comes with one bundled game, not two or three.

Indeed. I'm not that interested in comparing it with the 360 and PS3, it's more of an academic curiosity, because those charts behaved differently from what I would have thought.

Games attach rate should never include bundled. Count the console and separate game sells and that should be the statistic. Everything else skews the numbers. Don't even get me started about games that include stuff like earpieces and extra remotes.

Well, that way you'll have to go to all retaillers and remove all their bundles. That's a nice exercise. It'll take tami, but still nice

If this does count bundled, it would be very strange to think that the 2-game bundled 360 lost to the wii.

Based on this I have to agree that no bundled games were included. But now I'm wondering if they are basing their sales on shipping.

It's just hard to make any sense of this without a verifiable source, it's just a quote.

@WereKitten: Well that makes more sense. But it still has the problem about people who had bought it anyway.
Dharh has a point with bundled software, but since it's impossible to cut away the "inflationary" share, this is the best we can do.
