*Spoilers*

If it's a sequel will it be decades into the future? I thought the game ended with a long truce between the two countries or something? Unless they're going to do a Cold War analogy or something...

Doesn't anyone think that a sequel is kinda anti-climatic, given the whole message and theme of the first game?

Depends on how they do it, it could turn out to be a prequel to the original for all we know.

But yeah, it is a little anti-climatic, though the idea of another game in the same vain as VC can make me forgive it.

EWI would be pretty cool. But still I have a feeling they're going for a series (at least 3 games), and just doing prequel and leaving everything behind makes it feel even more wrong. But I guess it's the gameplay that matters the most...

Out of the blue observation: Why is it that Killzone 2 and VC, although they're main reference is Nazi Germany, also refer to the Cold War and Soviet Union for inspiration?

I have been thinking about what a prequel to VC would be like. How many people we already know should we bump into, should we be playing as them (Largo, Varot, Welkin's dad?), or should we play completely seperated from?

I also think a game set in EWI would be cool, because we don't know a lot about it. Sure, we know some of the basics of what happened, but there is still a lot of room for story telling.

Or, we could see the battles between the Atlantic Federation and the Empire. Or the Altanic Federation between Gallia.

The AF is a place I feel they can really explore!

Exactly, even though we know the basic stuff, there is still a lot of headroom for story telling and exploration in these two wars.

yeah there is a lot of sequel potential without resorting to arachnids, aliens, zombies or a setting in the future

my guess is it will be a few years /decades after the war.. with only a few charas of the first game..or maybe not .as long as the new squad mascot is neither a winged pig nor a blue hedgehog

Another point of question is how will the Valkyria play into the prequels (as the title must always include: "Valkyria Chronicles:")?

I can definitely see them play a darker role in the sequels. If it goes into the cold war scenario the two super powers could be doing experiments that include cloning, artificial Valkyria, etc (maybe a weapon even more disgusting than our current nuclear weapons. Forcing a Valkyria to self-destruct without their consent).

I don't know how they would incorporate the Valkyria in the prequels... maybe you play as Selvaria (sp?) when she was a young commander? Your missions are dealing with recovering artifacts and historical text?

Regarding the first game...

Give me Trophy support and I'll buy it at 50€ max. Don't give me Trophy support and I'll buy it at some 20€-30€ max when I have the time. Yeah, interesting games with Trophy support aren't too common yet.

That cold war scenario is actually a really neat idea. Now the truth has come out about the valkyrur, but our hero ends up sympathizing with them, because they are only being held captured and used for weapons now. I think it is totally doable.

I can see them not make the sequel anti-climatic (well it still sorta is), by showing how the wars never end, even with peace, by means of proxy wars. I'm starting to get some fan fic fire in me =P

You're a random soldier (anti-hero type), fighting a proxy war somewhere and your squad gets an random order to get a girl (why are Valkryia always girls?) from a village. You end up with a massacre and blood bath, and you're end up baby sitting and protecting this random child you don't even know. After all good few hours of gameplay and connecting with the child, you find out that they only want to experiment on her and use her as a bomb or something. Your squad commits treason and you have this epic showdown battle or something, with the girl ending up being smuggled to independent Gallia and the main character dying with his conscience in tact.

I don't understand at the level of importance trophies have been giving by some people... It'll be really nice to have trophies come before I finish a game (as you usually have to replay the entire game to get the trophies you should have already earned), but is it really important enough to stop you from playing an entire game? That means you're putting the importance of getting an trophy above playing the actual game itself.

This could make one awesome game set in the VC universe... I want a sequel so bad right now...

what makes the game worth 20-30 € less without trophies?

as for akvod.. just like the ringworlds in halo.. .the valkyria dont have to be "around" to be part of the storyline they served their purpose as a plot device.. and now lets see what comes next

wow the number of games im going to purchase just keeps piling up.

I know, I know... It's just that I already have tons of practically untouched games in my collection and I'm never going to have the time for them at this rate. It just feel rather nice to get a simple reward, even if it doesn't mean anything. Besides, I did say that I'm willing to pay for the game even now, I'm just willing to pay even more if it gets Trophies. And just to make it clear, I hate Trophy-whoring. VC however is on the edge; I'm not interested enough to pay a full price for it but I do have some interest. I would never get a game I think is bad just for Trophies.

I don't know :P Maybe I'm just feeling like paying full price for some game if it's worth it. Anyway, a game feels a bit unfinished or something if it lacks a feature, even if it sounds pretty strange. Yeah, I suppose I just want to waste some money but do it on something that deserves it. Maybe I shouldn't do that, with FFXIII demo and all... I think I can't afford too much right now.
