id love to see where kz2 is by next year, i can recall uncharted flopped etc.

kz2 will do pretty good for itself.

off topic kz2 is a fantastic game, i cant belive how good the game is. anyone reached the mech part yet. staggering grafix indeed.

LittleBIGPlanet flopped too with Week 0 + Week 1 sales. Don't forget that.

i could use the same arguement in reverse...

how many sony fans predicted lower first week sales than they really belived likely or possible.

fact is... it isnt exactly setting the world on fire with extraordinary sales and isnt it obvious that THE most hyped game on the PS3 that is also a shooter is going to be the biggest selling title in america so far... whats the big deal?

So what's so disappointing?

You would have to admit that this game was hyped to hell on this site.

So you could say that sales are dissapointing compared to say H3 or Gears2.

And it has already outsold Mass Effect!  Real disappointment there.

That is a pretty impressive number. Even if they hoped for more they can't be too upset by these numbers.

Not at all.

Halo 3 came off a franchise where each game averaged 6-7M+ sold.

Gears2 came off a game with a 6M+ userbase.

Killzone 2 came off a game with a 2M+ userbase.

Halo 3 launched in the holiday season along with a price cut.

Gears 2 launched in the holiday season along with a price cut.

Killzone 2 launched in February with a $400 price tag that hadn't dropped for more than 14 months.

How easy it is to ignore everything isn't it. Not to mention that Killzone 2 internet hype has no relevance to real world hype so basing success or disappointment off that is already a mistake.

Mass Effect is a success though...

Ooo Ooo Ooo!!!

Also don't forget, 2M+ is a disappointment for LBP as well because it didn't cost much to develop.

Funny that really I remember last year the PS3 was going to be pwning 360 without a price cut.

Now there most hyped games are not selling because of no price cut,.

I also remember gears one came off a similar install base as PS3.

Still no doubt I am incorrect.

@Bolded - Did I say that? No I didn't so don't use that on me. Although to be honest the 360 isn't exactly pwning the PS3 either.

Gears 1 was also the first blockbuster title on the 360 during the 2006 holiday season on a console who's predecessor was known as the "Shooter Box".

No matter how hard you or Kowenicki try Killzone 2 is not a disappointment.

You guys fail to realize that the PS3 and 360 demographics are DIFFERENT!!!!

This entire argument needs to run off of this fact.

There is no point. Nobody thinks Halo and/or Gears is a disappointment but all of a sudden if a game with 1/3 or in a case 1/4 of the previous install base needs to have similar sales.

Talking about setting the bar to unrealistic levels.

To be honest I am sure it wasn't the PS3 fanbase with these proposterous expectations, yes there will be some but majority thought it would sell just about what it did. Although now supposedly the PS3 fans only put their expectations low when they really thought and expected higher.  -_-

It is pathetic and to be honest I am done with it. Let them think whatever they want. Sony says they are extremely happy with the sales so no matter how hard they try, they will be wrong.

*Use of the word "Pathetic" meaning the idea that even though Sony are happy with sales the game is still disappointing because "some" users expected very high sales. It is not saying the users saying this are "pathetic"*

And IMO, this is what's wrong with the industry. A company is trying to help it progress, and they get hated on. It IS pathetic, and when people realize this maybe things will change...

One day hopefully, although at the moment I doubt it.
