i think that its in SE interest to release the demo in the west ,, i mean the sales of the FFVII AC bluray will triple or quadruple because of it ! if they end up not releasing the demo,,, well thats another mistake done by SE this Gen (and the mistakes are increasing and increasing)

The reason the demo isn't coming over is because it's exclusive to PS3. It alienates a large section of the market for this game, especially in NA where 360 sales should likely trump PS3 sales of the game. Obviously this problem does not exist in Japan seeing as how FF XIII is only coming out on the PS3 there. It makes more sense than suggesting a port that hasn't even begun yet is holding up a demo from being localized in the West.

@jo21-Read this reply. You misunderstood what I meant.

so? i think xbl have got multiplatform demos before, why the ps3 can't?

its not a xbl version gold version would not be able to come (in a year when they making port after a already localized version).

well the only thing this is making me is paying more to import it here >_> and it looks i will get the japanese version

What high profile demo of a multiplatform game has been barred from PSN and only on Xbox Live? Are you talking about the timed exclusivity of the Resident Evil 5 demo? I'm pretty sure that was paid for by Microsoft.

You have to remember that FF XIII is coming to the 360 in the West, and only the West, because of it's dominant position. Why would Square go through that trouble only to show preferential treatment to PS3 owners there? There's also the factor that not everybody buying this movie will own a PS3. What about a 360 owner that has a standalone BluRay player?

Maybe a demo will be released. It would make sense. What is likely to happen is that once the game goes gold in Japan and the 360 development starts, maybe Square will release a simultaneous demo across both platforms to build hype. Recall that while a demo for Japan this early is building hype for a Christmas release, a demo this early in America/Europe is building towards an eventual Summer/Fall 2010 release. Does Square really want to bust their load on showing this game off so early when most companies use demos as a close to release marketing tool?

^^ Well written, makes sense.

Doesnt matter to me at all. I wont be getting this game anymore. There is no way the game will live up to the hype. 6GB for an HD RPG that has always had a ton of cut scenes......not gonna happen

just one game as example eternal sonata to counter that.

it have a XBL Demo before release a year before, and the ps3 got it demo when the port was going to happen.

which it's the same that it's happening here just to different regions. but in contrast in have release dates really far from each other.

and if you say was because eternal sonata port was announce later for the ps3 it's the same for FF13 this time.

if PS3 demo Advent children american version it's done why not to release it?

Did you just try to prove my point, or are you arguing it? All I saw from your post was that the Eternal Sonata demo was timed to match the pre-release of each version of the game, which is exactly what I was saying. FF XIII is coming out in Japan on PS3 this Christmas(supposedly). So the PS3 in Japan is getting a demo. The game is coming out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 much, much later than that, so the demo is not coming over here yet and will likely come within an appropriate amount of time before the game's release in the West. Thank you for clarifying that with your Eternal Sonata example. I couldn't have said it better myself.

There's also no reason to think the american version of the PS3 demo is done either. If they have no intentions on selling it with Advent Children, then why would they bother localizing it? From Square's own mouth, they stated localization would begin simultaneously with the Xbox 360 port, meaning not until the game goes gold in Japan.

also the dvd9 m$ uses is a 8.5 gb capacity not 7gb, just to clear that up. also lost odyssey is the best rpg this gen and will be unless ff13 recaptures what ff12 destroyed with its utter mess of a game. i want too play ff13 very much but i can wait, because all the demo would do if its really good is make the wait even harder to deal with.
