Forums - Gaming - Analyst: Wii Is 'Fool's Gold' For Game Investors

I agree with the article.

How often do you see a hardcore non-Nintendo game on top?

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Counterpoint: How often do you see hardcore non-Nintendo game?

Can't be on top if nobody's trying.

Corrected.

You can't be on top if your game sucks!

The comments section to that article was funny. People who don't know the difference between WM+ and sixaxis, don't know what's first party and what's third. I'll forgive them for not knowing what "AAA" means, since it's about as confused and meaningless as "casual" and "hardcore" at this point.

If you build it, people will come.

But if you don't bother to build it, then no one will come.

The problem is that most developers built their HD units this generation, then saw the sales never go the way they were predicted.

That being said, the answer should be "it depends" because different types of game work better on different consoles (style, genre, design, graphics, etc. all factor into this).

TBH I still do not understand why more developers do not go Wii.

I mean if the games were there I reckon people would get into them.

I have the Wii but never play it but if it had games I wanted to play that were also on PS360 I reckon I would be checking them out.

For example say Forza or something similar that would be good on it.

I played Mario Kart and it was good but just to kiddy for me, and that is not an insult in any way.

I mean the game is probably as good as most racing games out there I just like a more realisitic looking game.

I could also think of lots of FPS games currently on PS360 that would work quite well on wii.

So many reasons why these types of articles are so wrong. If the PS3 and 360 were such great systems for game developers, why is it that so many developers have gone under when one of their games didn't make back their money?

$$$$$$$ is what makes the world go round ;) Not wishful thinking!

You mean like MadWorld in your sig?

Also, he forgets that companies like Activision have stated that the Wii was their big money maker last year.

Definitely not. I do not mean an action game that's about ripping people to shreds which has a story mode that's about 6 hours long. Better luck next time, though.

He mentions an Activision game and the marketshare of such games in the article.
