Forums - Sales - OTX survey - the most anticipated games in North America (25,000 asked)

The ex-GamerMetrics analyst Nick Williams has set up a new service at research firm OTX which includes eBay and GameFly data (quite interesting in itself because it has top queued and top 'kept' titles for GameFly):

...but they've also released some stats on the most-anticipated titles in three subtly different categories, 'purchase intent', 'pre-order intent', and 'first choice'. This is from surveying approx 25,000 gamers over an allegedly wide cross-section of gamer demographics - background and charts:

Quote:
Following the announcement of its gamer behavior and intent tracking tool GamePlan, market research firm OTX has provided Gamasutra with specific data on the most-anticipated upcoming games -- with Bungie's Halo 3: ODST and Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII topping the "purchase intent" list.

In addition to aggregating data provided by partners including game rental firm GameFly and eBay data provider AERS, OTX has operated its own GamePlan Consumer Tracker since October 2008, collecting data on 600 games from a pool of 25,000 gamers.

That information is gathered by OTX's "multi-source sampling" method, which polls players in the United States across hundreds of online panels.

Copy/paste from neogaf. Looks like a serious poll and the results make sense.

Nothing that surprising,

although I'm a little surprised by FFXIII for PS3 polling that much better then the 360 version. Probably because 360 owners have their attention diverted at present.

Yeah. Looks like that can be put down to the Mass Halo Effect

April 30 2010?..... I thought the 13 in Final fantasy 13 meant it was the thirteenth installment, not the amount of years I would spend waiting for it.

rofl!

but too be fair, FFX came in 2002 to EU, FFX2 in 2004, and FFXII in 2007, so 2010 for XIII isn't too far off normal IMO

Apparently Microsoft moneyhatted themselves another exclusive JRPG. The PS3 version of FFXIII is just a deceptively titled action game.

nice to see GOW III high out there

For me for purchasing intent my most anticipated game is Uncharted 2. It is nice to see on the list some PS3 games that are really high up there. I like the fact that Madden 2010 is higher on the 360 for purchasing intent, but doesn't show up on the list for preorder and that the PS3 version is halfway up the preorder list.
