Im sure there will be netbooks with more power than the PS3 by the time all that untapped potential is used up.

And your point is?

The technology is obsolete?

As with all game consoles.

Although this one does have The CELL (did I use it correctly?) and a BR Drive, one still presenting opportunity for experimentation (that is progress) and the other having vast open spaces to expand into. A good, interesting and exciting machine. I just hope mine will last long enough.

That's the beautiful part.

No it is the power of T3H CELL and the RSX, it the holy trinity of t3h cell, t3h RSX and the might of blu-ray that keeps the PS3 going

Useless and off-topic if it was a serious comment, lame if it was trolling. So, what was that? :)

Why are you guys taking it so seriously? Squilliam is right anyway, and on topic

On topic, not so much. Right? Of course, it's obvious.
:P

@Rainbird

Far from serious here, look at my smiley again --> :)
Still, never said the comment was stating the false. Only that it was useless because it did not add anything to the thread topic, nor - I bet - to the knowledge of any reader.
I _wish_ he put some effort in vigorous trolling, to be honest... Squilliam has been awfully low key lately ;)

Just as with all consoles, they'll keep pushing more out of the PS3, optimising it right down to the end of its life.

Thanks.

My complete point is this: Are people more interested in what the PS3 can do for developers, or with what developers can do for them? I think the two can get mixed up at times. In a way, what can be done on the PS3 or any fixed architecture doesn't matter, its like comparing two kids who both got 100% on every test and yet one studied 24/7 whilst the other never opened a book. You can praise the efforts of the former, but the net result is the same.
