Forums - Sony - Sony: Our first-party dev is as big as Microsoft and Nintendo's combined

Never played Eye of Judgment, Pain, Flower, Killzone 2 (FPS cover system?), Resistance 2 (Where did you find another console shooter with 8-player online co-op with seperate story along with 60 man multiplayer?).

I am sure I can find plenty more, but acting like LBP was the only one is far from the truth.

Nope, what's so unique in CCG? input method?; nope, never heard of it, can't say anything about it; yes, and played in all previous efforts of this team, rather cool, agreed; demo only, overall single-player mediocre at best from what I've seen, fps cover system is a common thing these days, you know; nope, only R1, can't say I enjoyed it, so not gonna get R2, but hardly an online fps would blow my mind, 'cos I prefer single-player driven experience, which is not so hot in fps\tps genre nowadays.

Funnily enough, total sales is more important than number of titles in development. In fact, all Sony are saying is they are spending more money on software dev than both MS or Ninty - which wouldn't shock me.

They seem to have forgotten that *profit* is what matters - not revenue, i.e.:

profit = revenue - costs

Nintendo:
profit = heaps - little = heaps

Sony:
profit = little - heaps = -heaps

...which pretty much sums up their respective annual financial statements.

Has WiiFit sold more units than all the 1st-party Sony PS3 titles put together? What about WiiFit+MK?

Here we go with this profit garbage again. "Sony lost billions", "Sony has no more money", "Sony's games don’t make them profit."

 As if we truly believe that we know more about Sony's financing than they do. I seriously doubt that if Sony, or any company were in any bad financial situation they would be dumping $$$$ into 1st part studios and supporting and developing 1st party games at the rate that Sony is doing for 2009.

Sony : our first party Studio is as big as Nintendo and MS combined. Truth

Fanboys: But, but, our Nintendo sell more games

Fanboys: But, but Sony makes no profits

me: what the fuck are you talking about to what Sony said.

Proof of quality and quantity

@bardicverse

Theres nothing stupid about facts, sony has bigger first party studio then nintendo and MS combined

Oh but there is about this one. See, Sony's first party is severely lackluster compared to Nintendo's. So by boasting of a larger first party, they are saying that with a bigger staff, they still can't compete with Nintendo's first party, which apparently is smaller. Thus, in turn, it can be translated that he is saying Sony's first party dev teams aren't nearly as talented as Nintendo's.

You do understand that everything that you just said is all opinion, and just about nothing in your response is fact. I personally agree that I THINK Nintendo has better first parties then Sony, but you act like thats fact, which it isn't in any form of the word.

Im talking from a sales perspective. Match up 1st party Sony titles against Nintendo titles and check the sales difference/success of the game/survival of IP.

@BMaker - Ah, excellent post for an 11 year old. The 11 in your name IS your age, correct? If not, then you might want to discuss the matter differently to a developer. From a dev perspective Sony hasn't had anywhere near the success with its IP as Nintendo has, which was the point. Next time you'll know better than to try to flame fire.

Sony's financial status is public (as with all stock-traded companies).

By visiting google finance or Sony's investors page you can read about Sony's revenue, profits/losses (per division), how much cash and debt they have and much more.

All Sony seems to do is talk smack......why don't they just focus on improving the PS3 instead of wasting money on PR.

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

I agree that there are definitely some fanboys in the thread, but it is not wrong to put what Sony said into perspective. The fact is that while true, these declarations show their weak points and in many ways aren't really bragging material.

PSRock - I think the point is that the guy's message is supposed to be a boasting point for Sony. It's not so much as the size of Sony's 1st party dev, its how dumb the guy sounds for trying to use that as a positive point for Sony.

I just don't understand how it is spun into a negative though? They have larger studios and are able to deliver more games to gamers. And most of the games are quality. What is the matter?
