itz ttechnically possible, as nintendo had the n64 expansion pak which made the graphics of games look better... I remember it was used with Majora's Mask...

Trouble is, I don't see any expansion slots on my Wii.

With the Wii on its stand (vertical), look just under the corner with the little grey "Wii" emblem...could that be a covered up expansion slot?

The rumor is completely bogus, though.

the only thing nintendo could do is put a upscaler between the Wii and were the component cable connects.

So it would be higher resolution but not necessary graphically better since you woul d need hell of alot of processing power to get better gfx.

Second option is to release a revised wii with more power.

The Wii is capable of displaying 720p and 1080i much like the Xbox and PS2 could do. However much like those games, the resolution will be higher but the graphics won't look much different. It'd be nice to quash these silly rumors though as there is no Wii 2 in 09 and there will be no secret N64 type graphics enhancer (more ram).

What you see is what you get... which isn't bad at all... if you start questioning the Wii's abilities... drop in Prime 3 and start the drooling ;)

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Well the rumor is without question debunked, i thought it sounded like a load of bull but thought I'd run it past you guys first.

Sign the Resident_Evil_5_Petition for a Wii release or Dark_Samus is going to come get you.

You could use the Wii motion controller to insert a new GPU and CPU into the console via a Mario game... (Just Kidding)...

It doesn't seem to be technically possible, and there in lies the Nintendo NextGen million dollar question which may or may not affect the longevity of the console going forward. 360 and PS3 could add better motion controllers... All three consoles are stuck with their current graphical, processing, and sound features.

Reading this thread all i thought of was the Sega genesis, and its Sega CD and the 32x add-ons :D

"What you see is what you get... which isn't bad at all... if you start questioning the Wii's abilities... drop in Prime 3 and start the drooling ;) "

The game looks better then what the gamecube had but it in no way shows off the power of the wii, atleast i would like to hope not. Just like GoW for the 360 or RFoM for the PS3 they are just the start of the systems.

The GC for the most part last gen was stuck at the same level of the PS2 while being better, like the PS2 to DC. The GC never had any support of third parties and was never forced to expand on the graphics, while games like GT4, GTA: SA, God of war3 and shadow of the colossus pulled every once of power from the PS2 and had games that were better then anything on the GC last gen except for RE4.

Can the wii expand on games like MP3, galaxy or brawl, or will the third parties and Nintendo do lazy jobs of trying to get the true power of the wii into its games.

My post is not a bash on the wii, i would expect more from the system over the years unlike the GC. The PS2 had games on it that should of not been possible, while i have never seen anything from any other system to this date to match the type of power that was drained from such a low power system.

The new supposedly add-on has to be either a CPU or a graphics card to upgrade the graphics. It certainly cannot be a CPU cause it would require extra power supply, fan cooling system, etc. If it were a graphics card it would be very slow; The front side bus'd be the same no matter the speed of the GPU; so, IMO just crap...

i believe that's a cell [battery] to power the internal clock. i have to admit the Wii keeps time a hell of a lot better than my GC did, every month the GC clock was out by about 5 minutes.

That's exactly what it is, there's a little tray in there that holds the battery.  Nintendo would not require users to use a mini-phillips screwdriver to install an expansion, it would be a simple snap-in module like the N64's memory expansion slot.  The Wii doesn't have anything like this.

This is ridiculous. Firstly its not possible, secondly Nintendo have no reason to consider this. Its not like the Wii is not selling - and for gfx reasons.

Scrap this 100%.
