Forums - General - "Evolution is a LIE!!!" - Presenting the Stereotype

Many crazy people think evolution is a lie, because they got false information from a creationist website, from their church, a book, or even worse, from their parents. These people are so stupid they don't even take the time up to look and see if the things they heard/read about creationism and evolution are true. They just take the websites/books/churches/authority figures word for it.

Creationist websites often tell numerous falsehoods about evolution, making it seem silly. What's worse is they do so whilst not knowing ANYTHING about evolution. They pick and choose which sciences to use to support their arguments, they don't use the facts to tell the truth, they use the facts to support whatever their current claim is, sometimes even contradicting themselves while doing so. They do to make themselves look right to the average uninformed person.

The average uninformed person, if they have a christian background, may be likely to just take the claims as truth without looking up the actual science behind creationism. No proof of young earth creationism that has been found so far, the only thing they have for proof is false arguments against evolution, and false science to support their crazy claims.

Ever wonder about the great flood? It's total bullshit.

This is what happen if there was really a global flood.

Only stupid peopled who know nothing about evolution can be tricked by such creationist slime. I myself even got tricked by venomfangx's bullshit... For about 1 day, before I actually took up the time to look up his claims. All venomfangx's videos do is recycle kent hovind already disproven theories. Kent hovind is whacked out, he makes crazy claims that make the genesis creation and flood make sense...

But when people with a knowledge of science actually run the numbers, his theories are full of holes, and wouldn't work at all. Kent hovind just made all his claims up, he pulled everything out his ass, there's no proof for Kent Hovind's theories.

Some young earth creationists try to put evolution off like it's a religion, that's trying to replace theirs. It's simply not the truth. It's the world view that is gained from examining the evidence without bias. Creationism is the worldview that's gained from looking for evidence to support the bible's creation claims.

Also, about intelligent design, it's the same thing as creationism, without trying to prove the god of the bible specifically is the creator, just an unknown creator. But there's no proof for intelligent design. Intelligent design is a relabeling of creationism/theism and contains no actual evidence, just arguments that are based around philosophy, stupid concepts like irreducible complexity.

I always laugh when people who try to say evolution is a lie bring up the 2nd law of thermodynamics...

I once posted this link I think I will again, it is such an epic failure.

http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=1073734&postcount=232

It reads...

"Believe it or not, you were perfect when you were born. You were obviously healthy if you are posting here today, you hadn't sinned, and were making choices and using your free will, though they were small choices. Unfortunately, later in your life you made some bad choices and now you are a sinner, but remember, God MADE you perfect.

One of the most basic laws in the universe is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This states that as time goes by, entropy in an environment will increase. Evolution argues differently against a law that is accepted EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE. Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn't possible: UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy. If there were such a source, scientists would certainly know about it."

Wow, that was epic failure. They disproved themself.

wow, such a long post.. the bad part is that it doesnt tell me anything. all you do is talk shit. at least when venomfangx makes long videos, he actually tries to support his claims..

from the looks of it, it doesnt seem like you know too much about evolution yourself.

What do I have to tell you? What claim did I make that you are against?

Creationism is crazy bullshit. If you dispute this tell me why, rather than just telling me I'm being offensive. The fact that I'm offensive doesn't prove that all I do is sling shit, granted I like to sling shit, but I know what I'm talking about.

Hahahaha, I do more than talk shit. For example, here's something I wrote about in the past:

I dislike young earth creationism. It contains little validity, a lot of bullshit.

First off this is the page I was looking at, 10 proofs for creationism:
http://75.125.60.6/~creatio1/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=36

Proof #1 The Fossil Record, is bullshit:
["T]he lack of transitional series cannot be explained as being due to the scarcity of material."

Wtf? YES IT CAN! We're lucky to have any fossils at all, let alone transitional fossils.

"This supposed column is actually saturated with "polystrate fossils" (fossils extending from one geologic layer
to another) that tie all the layers to one time-frame.

Hmm, I somehow don't see how fossils going through one or more layers somehow proves that it's all one time frame.

Polystrate fossils, such as trees going through multiple strata layers, is easily explained:
http://www.don-lindsay-archive.org/creation/polystrate.html

Proof #2 Decay of Earth's Magnetic Field.. is total bullshit:
http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/dave_matson/young-earth/specific_arguments/magnetic_field.html

Proof #3 The Global Flood is total bullshit:
http://www.evolution.mbdojo.com/flood.html

Proof #4 Population Statistics, is total bullshit:
http://skepticwiki.org/index.php/Population_Growth

Proof #5 Radio Halos, one again bullshit:
http://paleo.cc/ce/halos.htm

Proof #6 Human Artifacts throughout the Geologic Colum, Is total bullshit:

"a human sandal print with trilobite in Cambrian rock, human footprints and a handprint in Cretaceous rock
point to the fact that all the supposed geologic periods actually occurred at the same time in the recent past."

NO, it's points to the fact that the humans that came AFTER, and explored the areas, left traces of themself.
It doesn't prove that the rocks themselves are from modern history. Only the hand/footprint is from modern
history, not the rock itself.

Proof #7 Helium Content In Earths Atmosphere:
http://www.usd.edu/esci/age/content/creationist_clocks/helium.html

Proof #8 Expansion of space fabric, bullshit:
http://www.reduciblycomplex.com/index.php/2008/12/30/evidence-for-creation-debunked-part-8/

Proof #9 Design in Living Systems:
Basically this is trying to argue that we're irreducably complex.. Complexity is complexity, it does not indicate design. http://skepticwiki.org/index.php/Irreducible_complexity

Proof #10 Design in the Human Brain:
Same argument as #9, it's bullshit. Complexity does not equal design

There. :P Good enough for you?

It's stupid to not believe in evolution. The concept of small changes that are beneficial to the species getting passed on, and detrimental traits are gotten rid of, and over the course of billions/millions of years one species can change so much that it evolves into a new species, is that really such a flawed concept? There no probelm with it, unless you don't believe the earth and universe are billions of years old...

Now with specific ideas of evolution it might be okay to say you don't believe, but saying you don't believe in evolution as a whole is lame.

It should be noted that I personally don't believe in evolution, but I don't not believe in it either.

You don't "believe" in evolution. Its not a religion or something like Santa Claus. Scientists don't go home and worship evolution after work.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Evolution is fact, the debate is over. It does my head in when people say "it's just a theory". These are people who are muppets as they do not know what a theory is. It's not just a random idea, theory = fact!!!

The way scientific research is conducted is that you start off with a hypothesis (an idea), you gather evidence from testing and research and then you can decide if it works. If it does it is a theory and if it doesn't then you go back and find another hypothesis.

Science never wants to say that something is solid fact, so when you get a theory you conduct more tests to understand the theory better. If you find research that does not conform with the theory, you look at how it can the theory can be adapted and changed. Unfortunately creationists seem to see this as a weakness rather than a strength and make a big fuss about it.

What is frustrating about this is that they get pissed off when anyone questions their methods. Most creationists when discussing god seem to start off with the answer and try to find evidence supporting it and disregard evidence that doesn't. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT PROVE? That's never going to give anyone the correct answer and that's why I don't believe in arguments for god.

Now if someone could prove to me that god exists using the first method I mentioned then maybe I would listen. But I have yet to witness such an argument.

...Also, how would anyone prove their own god? It is entirely possible to prove in a god or creator. But proving a specific god is impossible.
