This thread is becoming a train wreck. So much for the five "better" reasons.

Sony fanboys wrecked it just like Sony wrecked the success PS3 should have had.

I'll be honest with you: Your original post wasn't good to begin with. You haven't done much to explain why the 360 would have a longer lifespan than the PS3 and the few arguments you had, weren't convincing.

Basically my point was it should continue to sell more consoles and Live is a cash cow. Isn't that good enough?

fail thread.

you are wrong from the beginning the ps3 won't cost 399-499$ always, there is going to be a price cut?
soon probably not, but they will be one.

Well as long as the console cost $399-499 the 360 will continue to sell more. So come back when we have info on that.

that also means it have more chances of price cuts, making the life of the ps3 longer

This is much funnier than Rol's thread.

reason why the 360 is going to get hammered when the ps3 price is cut worldwide:

because its already cheaper than the damn wii and it only outsells it 30k worldwide every week. all ps3 needs is a $10 price cut and it will be ahead of the 360. heres looking forward to microsoft cutting the 360 price to $1 and then boasting about how they outsold the ps3 by 10 units every day hahah, the only one laughing is nintendo!

Funny how 30K a week became a gap of 8+ million consoles.

...

Are you serious ?

You do understand that the 360 was release A WHOLE YEAR before the PS3 right ?

At one point the gap was 6 million... now its 8 million.

Okay, so the 360 managed to get back the 2 millions they lost when Sony closed the gap last year. What's your point ?

I clearly recall you saying that the 30k (which is a very small amount anyway) got them a 8 million.

The Gap was 5 million when PS3 launched,now its 8 million,its 3 million more.

This actually a great thread because it punches the ps3 fanboys right in the mouth.

STFU you ignorant sony propaganda tit suckers.

The OP has explained his postition numerous time but you are ignoring it cuz the truth has just kicked you in the balls so hard.

Wow...

You missed the best reason.

It came out a year longer... therefore when the next generation starts and both systems take big hits... the 360 will still be ahead a year.

1. Basically doesn't exist in Japan.....360 isn't going to survive forever with only 2 markets effectively helping it.

2. M$s first party. Does it even exist anymore?

3. As PS3 sales continue to grow, tossing money at every 3rd party isn't going to keep them from developing on the PS3, because it's just lost sales

4. Doesn't matter if Sony's games don't put up Halo-like numbers. I'm sure many gamers would like to have a plethora of high quality games that sell just 2-3 million, than have a *couple* games that sell 9 million. Like Sony has always said, they don't invest in one game as their "identity" but put out games for just about everyone. Nintendo = Mario, M$ = Halo, Sony = ? and that's in a good sense

5. PSN has become/is a viable platform for online gaming, and it's free. And if gamers want to buy something, they choose when to buy it, not paying $50 up front.

1. Two markets make up for the poor sales in Japan. The gap is 8 million consoles and growing.

2. Well they published a lot of games PS3 owner would love to have.

3. They don't need them to stop developing for the PS3. But if you can get the same games on a cheaper console why buy the PS3?

4. Sony doesn't have an option because their game don't have outstanding sales. Although you know Sony is hoping Gran Turismo sells like 10 million.

5. Free is great... but it cost money to offer those services you know. I bet Sony is currently mapping out how they will charge for online play on the PS4. Microsoft has proven there is a lot of money to be made doing so.

1. That's not going to work in the long run, because Japan is still important. Lack of Japanese support will show in some form later

2. Like what? Halo? Gears? Everything else is moot.

3. Why get a PS3? Because, yes it may be more expensive, but I'd play the more expensive console, with the same 3rd party titles, but also has the more appealing set of GUARANTEED exclusives, in the form of the 1st and 2nd parties. Not to mention GUARANTEED variety too.

4. Sony doesn't have an option to own several different development studios that ALL put out high quality games? Ok, kiddo

5. Planning on how to charge for PSN on the PS4? You ever heard of microtransactions? Didn't Sony earn like $1 million the week Home opened publicly?

1.Japan isnt important.

2.Mass Effect is "moot" what the hell ever it is,stupid word,Left4dead is moot? Ok just like how many PS exclusives are moot?

3.Gears and Halo are first party.

4.I agree with you.

5.Home may be great but Live draws in WAY more money than Home is/will,and some PS3 games require a PAYMENT option.

Wrong. Gears is 3rd party, but published by Microsoft. Just like HEAVY RAIN is 3rd party but published by Sony.

Hmm.

I failed.

3. MS published games typically sell equally and better than Sony games.

This is highly debatable.  Actually, it would be hard to make a statement like that at all.

Let me compare games published by Microsoft on the 360 with those published by Sony on the ps3.  I am only including games that have been released in all three territories in this comparison (or at least games that have been released in both NA and the EU), and I am not including spin-offs like the various Buzz and Scene-it add-on discs. I also did not include games like Project Sylpheed or Campire Rain, games that Microsoft only published in certain territories.

Games published by Microsoft on the 360

Games that have sold over 2 million

Halo 3
Gears of War
Gears of War 2
Forza 2
Mass Effect

Games that have sold in between 1 million and 2 million

Project Gotham Racing 4
Crackdown
Viva Pinata
Project Gotham Racing 3
Perfect Dark Zero

Games that have sold between .5 million and a million

Halo Wars (will soon break a million, and eventually 2 million)
Ninja Gaiden II (recently went muliplat, surprisingly, but should hopefully break a million)
Lost Odyssey
Too Human
Kameo: Elements of Power
Blue Dragon

Games that have yet broken 500k

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts (will near a million lifetime)
Lips (same as Banjo)
Ninety-Nine Nights
Shadowrun
You're in the Movies
Tenchu Z
Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise
Viva Pinata: Part Animals
Fuzion Frenzy 2 (deserved so much more =( )

Games published by Sony on the PS3

Games that have sold over 2 million

Resistance: Fall of Man
MotorStorm (heavily bundled, but not much moreso than Forza 2)
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (not including PSN downloads)
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
LittleBigPlanet

Games that have sold in between 1 million and 2 million:

Resistance 2
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Heavenly Sword
Killzone 2 (will break 2 million in a few months)

Games that have sold between .5 million and a million

SingStar
Socom: Confrontation (should break a million in 5-6 months, not including PSN downloads)
Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift (will break a million by year's end, but won't get much further than that)
MLB '08: The Show
Warhawk (don't forget downloads!)

Games that have yet broken 500k

Lair
MLB '07: The Show (ruled out by MLB '08)
MLB '09: The Show (will be the first The Show title on ps3 to near or break a million)
Formula 1: Championship Racing
Folklore (no Others numbers)
Genji: Days of the Blade (no Others numbers)
NBA 07/08/09 (horrible series, and will probably soon be axed)

The might of Microsoft comes primarily from their marketing. They can make a big series go really big (Halo, Gears), but they often ignore the little stuff, causing them to go the way of Banjo and Lost Odyssey.  Around 38% (10/26) of Microsoft's releases have yet to break half a million, and many of those never will.

Sony's big titles may not outshine Microsoft's, but they have far fewer titles struggling on the low end.  Their games for the most part sell decently overall, barring exceptions like the horrible Lair.  Also, when Gran Turismo 5 comes out, it'll be a high end seller on the level of Halo, balancing things out even more.  God of War III will see success somewhere between Fable II and Mass Effect.
