Forums - Gaming - Why would anyone but Wii owners care about The Conduit?

Mouse + keyboard may be "better", but I'd rather point at the screen and play with the wii remote any day...well, most days.

Why should 360 and PS3 owners care about The Conduit? Because of it's kickass controls. When the game comes out we'll find out if the rest of the game holds up as well.

I believe actually the mouse part of that equation is better.  Mouse+Keyboard gets hyped up, because it is what people are used to with their computers.  I believe a mouse+analog stick would be even better for aiming plus movement.  Dual analog stick isn't better than mouse+keyboard.  It is interesting how they got dual analog to work for FPS actually.

It could be that the owners of other consoles are (a) jealous or (b) worried because this game has the "potential" to provide the Wii with an excellent game in a genre where it is underrpresented.

Or it could be that people just don't like the Wii getting anything that resembles a good game.

Let's take for instance Carnival Games. People forget that when it was released it was one of the first third-party minigame collections and that it uses the Havok engine and that it has a lot of in-game collectibles which increased its replay value. Still, people rag on it -- usually those who don't own a Wii or have never played it.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Can we atleast agree being a grown man and using a Wiimote looks completely fucking ridiculous? Its almost like finding out someone you know watches professional wrestling... you just respect them less.

I disagree with you STRONGLY on here. Why should someone holding something that looks like a remote or pointer device look more rediculous than someone wholding a controller pad?

I started this thread and thing you went out of bounds with that comment.  Actually sticking the Wiimote in a gun like device and having people use it would look cooler.

The reason to get excited is that this may be like a Counter-strike for the Wii. It's customizable and responsive controls will rival PC FPS games and maybe surpass them. That's why people should get excited.

When was the last time you played a PC FPS?  Unreal Tournament came out in 1999 and has customizable controls for every aspect of the game.  It includes key bindings, macros, mouse sensitivity levels, etc.  It's hard to imagine the Wii's controls matching or surpassing a system where every weapon can be binded to its own key and macros created to perform just about any sequence of actions.

Like the PS3 controller someone posted the image of earlier? Yeah that looks pretty awesome. I'd still rather point at the screen with a remote though, since to me it's more fun, but the mouse + control stick and button combo that someone posted earlier was pretty sweet.

Halo 3, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Gears of War 1 & 2, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, CoD 4, CoD W@W. the list goes on. The market is flooded with superior FPS games. The only reason to pick this up is if you only own a wii, and if you prefer wii controls.

My only complaint about the Conduit is the style. It looks like Duke Nukem with some Halo-esque aliens thrown in, and with a main character that looks like a secret agent from an 80s movie who's sporting plastic gizmos and gadgets. It just looks cheesy.

The market is flooded with excellent shooters, which may very well end up being better than The Conduit but saying superior implies a comparison which we don't yet have the benifit of.  I will conceed that it's unlikely, but if The Conduit ends up being more highly rated than the above games, would it not then warrant the purchase of anyone who likes to play good games?

No, because it's on the Wii.
