Forums - Gaming - Should I trade in Super Paper Mario (Wii)

$35 is good compared to other amounts, but it's still less than retail, which means a loss would still be taken, assuming it was purchased at retail price. Therefore, it is smarter to keep the game, than to lose some money, by trading it in.

If he's never going to play it again (which he basically came out and said), he takes the loss by keeping the game, not selling it.

Because $35 is less than retail price, it would be smarter for you to keep the game. And besides, Super Paper Mario is a good game, and because it is a Mario game, its value will only increase in the future. Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64 is worth around $100, mint in the box, now. Keep it. Do not sell it. Just work for more money, to buy more games, so you can build up a collection.

Not everybody is rich like you or wants to build collections. Some of us actually play the games, enjoy them, and then play more games.

It's good to keep games so you can play them later, but there's no shame in getting $35 for a trade-in...that's actually a very good deal. You can't get full retail for a used game anywhere, so I don't know why you even bring that up. And it's obviously not "mint in box" because he played it....so it won't be worth $100 til 2050 or something...

1. I am not rich.

2. I play games, and collect them.

3. $35 is good compared to other amounts, but it's still less than retail, which means a loss would still be taken, assuming it was purchased at retail price. Therefore, it is smarter to keep the game, than to lose some money, by trading it in.

4. You can't get retail for a used game, which is why you keep it. That is why I brought it up.

5. "Mint" and "new" are two different things. If they were the same thing, we would not have two words for them. I have many games that I have played, and remain in mint condition. And in 2050, chances are, Super Paper Mario, if in mint condition, and if scarce, should be expected to be worth around $100 Canadian dollars. Super Mario RPG, mint in the box, for the Super Nintendo, is worth around $100, and it's only around 10 years old. Paper Mario, which is even newer, is worth a lot of money, if found, mint in the box. You can have used, mint games. Yes, they exist.

6. You always, always, always have to reply with some kind of negative attitude to my posts, and I am not appreciating it.

You just have quite different views on gaming than the average consumer, that's all.  Most of us don't build collections, we just play games...if we can't afford the newest game very easily, perhaps a trade-in for $35 towards the new game will convince us.

I know if I bought a game for $50, played it and beat it, and then was offered $35 to trade it in, I would...unless it was a game I knew I'd play again.  It's a loss, I guess, but you're essentially paying $15 to play Super Paper Mario, thus saving money for your next game.  Sounds good to me...I know there's no point to me to build a collection...I don't really care if one of my games is worth $100 in a decade or two.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I am also a collector, but point 3 makes no sense to the average gamer.  If you are not building a collection, and it has no replay value to you, $35 trade-in is $35 more than $0 which is what you make by not selling it.

Well, if one thinks that Super Paper Mario is that worthless, so that to them, it is worth nothing, than by all means, resell it. I would think that eBay would be the best place to resell your old games, since game stores wont give you much for them. $35 for Super Paper Mario is good, compared to other stores, whom would probably only give you about $10-$15.
