the difference is if you had cross game voice chat you could speak! thereby skillfully avoiding death by texting.

Ah but you see, I don't give a crap. Unless I'm not interested in being in the chat room in the first place, I'd rather try and manage typing a message when I die or if there's a message I want to respond to. If there's a point to being in the chat room, I'm going to use an opportunity to type out a message.

But since I also play PC games without a mic, it works here too. Just that you can recover faster since one hand is on the keyboard anyway.

People get so worked up it's funny.

Plus in KZ2 you can respawn whenever you want -- so you can easily type messages while you lay there on the ground screaming for a medic

Hello

Are this guys serious? We are in the XI century, the year is 2009, and they added TEXT CHAT?

"We proudly want to announce that you can text chat with up to 15 people!" - WTF??!?!??!???!

Are they serious? Do they know the concurrence this days? LIVE, PC programs, OnLive, cell phones....

Sony should dismiss all their PS3 director genious.....

"Text chat for 15! YES! Now we are getting back in the race!"

Is this serious?

Well boo hoo OP. I've already used it twice since the update. One time I was playing Demon's Souls and there is no way in that game to communicate besides simple emotes in the game itself. I added the guy I was playing co-op with to my friends list, initiated a text chat and we were able to coordinate better.

I haven't used the feature yet since I've been too busy with projects, but are you able to write partial messages and go back to gameplay, but then return to the chat to finish typing it out at a later time?

This is both kinda On/Off topic, but...

Does anyone know if/when SONY is releasing a Blutooth keyboard for PS3?

I don't know about an official one.

However, there's the official chat pad which is bluetooth :P

There's a bluetooth logitech keyboard for the PS3.

Well then that makes whining about it seem more pointless to me. It's not voice chat, but it seems to offer less of an obtrusive way to still chat with a group of people while you're in-game.

Its a awesome feature. I've already used it a lot.

Check out my game about moles ^

a question, which probably shows how naive I am; Is 'engineer' in any way a swear word? Because everytime I typed it in it would replace all but the '-eer' with astericks.
