Forums - Microsoft - New Bioshock update: it is stoppable!

It's nice to see that I became so popular that people are mentioning me in their thread title.

I don't think patching is a great thing because developers very well think "who cares, let's make a patch later on, we have to release this game this holiday season (just an example)". If people can't expect a nearly bugfree game anymore for paying $60, there's something wrong. But the main problem of patches is that not everybody has his/her console with online access, those people are screwed with a buggy game.

1. yes I think there should be more threads with stoppable or unstoppable in the title, it just sound epic.

2. Do you guys really think Bioshock is a buggy game ??? Buggy games don´t get great reviews, take a good look at games like Gothic 3, that game was a bug apocalipse, it was so bad the devs gave up patching it. I played that game unpatche and must say it had elements of Big Rigs, it was nothing more than a pre-beta and they sold it for 60 euros to fans of Gothic two which was a great game, there is a big difference between patching little bugs that happer here and ther but don´t make or brake a game and releasing a unfinished game and than saying "it´s ok we´ll fix it.... some day" But yes, console games should be at least "nearly" bug free since not everybod has online. Still Bioshock would not get such rave reviews (I love alliterations) if it wasn´t nearly bug free.

@ leo-j: What does microsoft have to do with Bioshock bugs ???

I blame the inclusion of hard drives and the idea of patching in consoles. Gone are the days where games had to be tested properly, now 2K clearly think they can release a console game the same way they release a PC game, using their paying customers as bets testers

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

@ leo-j: What does microsoft have to do with Bioshock bugs ???

Very good question sir, this is a third party game I think. The only problem is that the updates have to go through microsoft first, and they allowed it to go through.

^^ ok my bad, yeah you are right there is a general trend in that direction. Oh and as a german I am pretty drunk right now and could´t care less about Leipzig, screw those bastards, go Köln WOOOOHOOOOOO

@ leo-j, sorry that I always talk to you in the last part of my post :), still whats your point ??? Does microsoft have to do the beta and patch testing for third party games now ??? I know they have money to blow butt this is stetching things a bit.

 Yes.

didnt happen to me, and i went directly by that point

Bioshock itself did not have many problems, very few and very very minor

So stop saying bioshock is the crappy bugged game, the patch did it (ive had no problems) and all the patch did was add a few things, thats it, like music on the title, big whoop

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

If you're both playing BioShock (likely) and connected to Xbox Live (again, likely), you'd probably already have been prompted to download an update for the game. Wondering what's inside? No, no plasmids, just a few fixes for an autosave bug, AI problems with splicers using health stations and a music bug on the menu screen. Oh, and something else. It's screwing up a lot of people's games. We've received a ton of emails from readers complaining about the game now freezing constantly, and sometimes locking up completely. 2K say they're working on a fix, but until then, you can get around this by clearing your 360's cache. To do this, just hold both bumper buttons while the game's booting, and don't let go until you see the 2K logo. That should do it.

How many things are you going to post about bioshock to bring it down?

If a game is glitchy it needs to be known, just because something as awesome as Bioshock is on a PR roll doesn't mean we need to just simply ignore things that are glaringly wrong with the situation. This may not be the end of the world, but it is yet another case where the developer got lazy and now we have to pay the price.

Sign the Resident_Evil_5_Petition for a Wii release or Dark_Samus is going to come get you.

If you look at the date I uploaded the video it happened before the patch.  And as for posting things about Bioshock to bring it down, 1) I really liked Bioshock, I actually gave it a 9.1 I believe, and 2) I'll post whatever news article I find interesting.
