It took the 360 until near the end of may to reach this amount last year.

nice...great YoY for 360, and with the line-up at E3, it's going to be another record year for the 360.
The data doesn't lie...360 is not going away anytime soon, as many had predicted. M$ has done an "Apple" in breaking into the domain of previously dominate Japan companies with the Xbox brand. People have this innate hatred for M$, and it really clouds how much of an accomplish the xbox family truly is. When the 360 was launched, Sony and Nintendo absolutely dominated the sphere, and of course, only a company like M$, with deep cash reserves could have survived the financial cost, but it did, and the 360 is thriving. At the launch of this generation, the estimates were bleak for the 360, but here it is…in year 4, and the console is going to top the last gen’s tally by nearly 10 million…with 3-4 more years at the very least of being a top shelf console.
