Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I'd say Halo, it's the reason we have soo many FPS's out for both systems.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

"Revolutionised" means its been done before, i think the better tearm here Revolutionised Online Console Gaming , First person shooters were awesome before halo. have you heard of Golden Eye? , even on the SNES there is something called Wolfenstien 3D , and there was Medal Of Honor and Rainbow Six among alot others.

goldeneye????

Goldeneye FTW!!!! seriously who can forget that??!? and after Goldeneye, IMO, next was Perfect Dark and then i felt Unreal Tournament did alot for FPS on console when it was released for Dreamcast and PS2.

I think MGS is more influential as their story and gameplay is still tops.

Being tops in story and gameplay doesn't make a game influential.

Halo is largely responsible for the surge of the FPS genre on consoles. Goldeneye set the gold standard, but Halo ran with it.

I can't think, off-hand, of an entire genre on consoles which owes so much to Metal Gear.

Halo

Mario FTW!

Of those two given I'd go with Halo because it single-handedly made the Xbox relevant and has sold 9m on 360 and still going strong.

Also if you stopped 10 random people on the street most would know Halo but only a gamer would know MGS.

Stealth games?

Halo. One of the reasons why the Xbox and Xbox 360 have been as successful as they have been.

And MGS has done something that hasn't been done before? Escape from L.A. says Hi.
