Forums - Gaming - Fanboyism irony: Graphical excellence and comparisons between consoles.

If someone holds graphical excellence as their number 1 priority, would they seek that on a console? Consoles are a fixed platform and even the generational improvements between generations of games won't satisfy someone who is a real visuals nutter. So really it has to be a secondary concern to at least some other priority, be it cost, controls, types of games etc it doesn't really matter. Sure, you may have a level of graphics which you would like to have at any point, it may be one priority you hold, but never the highest priority.

Its kind of funny thinking about all the silly little comparisons which are made, and why they are made. Since graphical excellence isn't the highest priority as otherwise they would probably be a PC gamer of some description it really doesn't matter in the end because the whole structure of any argument in this field with regards to consoles are based around what is at best a secondary priority.

Personally I have no problem switching from a PS3/360 game to say Zack and Wiki to a PC game running at some uber resolution and back again. Somewhere between Wii Sports and Crysis is about where im happy to be with regards to visuals and as a defining feature of a game, its really almost becoming a moot issue. It would be "nice" if Zack and Wiki looked like Crysis, but thats about as far as it goes.

as always Gameplay >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Graphics.

IMHO Games > Graphics

I was very sad that Vista does not support Diablo 2...

That being said, nice thread mate!

i didn't know that

Diablo 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Vista :P

GT5P is the top graphical racing sim ever made up 'til now.  It's on a console. *shrugs shoulders*  I think it just depends on the hardware...period (not so much that it's a console).  However, if your game will require HUGE amounts of memory, PC would be better for that type of thing.  Of course, next-gen coding is all about smaller chunks of data being moved around at very high speeds.

I haven't tried it on Vista 64, but my old Vista 32 bit gaming PC does the trick with Diablo 2 + Expansions brilliantly. Did you try compatibility mode? Diablo 2 is too big of a game to just not work.

Diablo 2 runs on Vista with a patch released by Blizzard, but it runs slow as hell when entering/exiting games, sitting in the chat area and sometimes when you enter a game the screen gets all distorted and becomes rainbow colored.

You have to minimize the game then maximize it again to correct it after entering a game. Inside a game though it works fine (after minimizing and then maximizing).

This is my experience anyways.

This was 2-3 months ago by the way, for all I know these issues may have been corrected.

It would be difficult to argue that graphics are more important than gameplay.

But at the same time, it's difficult to say that you wouldn't want to play the better looking version of the exact same gameplay.

The most  important thing is being happy with what you've got. If that's the case then any argument from the opposing side is harmless to yourself.

I would still be playing if I didn't download that one maphack years ago. -_-

Lost myself 150+ HRs, P Eth Death Cleaver, Tyraels, Bugged Tals, Non-Ladder amulets on Ladder (permed ), etc...

I was freaking stacked with 2-3 years worth of Diablo II playtime. I used to spend so much time on the Blizzard forums trading stuff, getting insane offers some of my permed items like my 4 socketed JMOD for example (Jewelers Monarch of Defense) which would fetch 100+HR offers.

Boy was I addicted back then. This was last ladder season I believe. That or the season before that.

All this happened right after some guy agreed to buy my accounts from me for $400.
