Forums - General - Most evil man: Adolf Hitler or Osama Bin Laden?

what is evil?
I don't consider them evil.
They both had a vision of what a perfect world would look like and want 2 reach that perfect world with every means nessessary.

aren't the ones who opposed them the evil ones?

I would have to say Osama Bin Laden.

 Really? I mean really?

But kirby brings up a good point, are they "evil"? Their actions are, and besides Stalin for being a total paranoid nutjob, I would say that Hitler, and most of the "evil" dictators of the world are just normal men, and their peons such as Eichmann are just regular men too generally. The Banality of Evil, where decent human beings commit horrible acts just because of their ambition to succeed.

Dude Osama is a pussy on the scale of evilness. Like yeah he took down the twin towers and was bad to his people but that's nothing compared to some of the older guys.

I'd say Stalin is the worst. He created the largest man made famine ever and sent millions of his citizens to labour camps and/or death camps.

Hitler is bad too, but he's a pussy.

Religion has been the most evil thing man has ever created.

Has anyone mention the Impaler? Vlad III The Impaler was crazy sick. Check him out if you've never heard of him.

If I had to choose between the 2 listed, Hitler by far.

Rol doesn't qualify for this competition.

Rol is quite evil though.

@people talking about Marx:  Marx did not wish for the events that transpired.  A political party took his theory, modified it to suit their needs, spun it to the people, and left him standing aroung going "you idiots."  Then when he realized Communism wasn't his Communism, he was forced to flee.  Or... something like that.  It's been forever since I studied Marx.

I wouldn't call Bin Laden evil, one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.

But gassing 6 million jews, if that is not evil, then what the fuck is?

Evil, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

What Hitler and Osama did/are doing may be considered evil in our culture, but what of the people who share the same views? I mean, after all, Hitler wasn't born a racist, he gained those views from the people who influenced thing, and the same can be said for Osama.

I'll ask a question: would Hitler have been considered evil in medieval Europe, where the Jews got blamed for every bad thing under the sun?

Hitler and Osama's actions have both been, in their opinion, for the good of the world, and they're not profiteering from it.

If Hitler had been successful would we have considered him evil today? The answer is no, because what is "wrong" and what is "right" would have changed, and Hitler probably would be seen today as an idol.

I think the case of Osama is incredibly interesting. After all, he became unattached to his family, and has very little to do with them. He's the only one who isn't living the life of a billionaire. He's got a goal, which he thinks is better for the world, and he's dedicating his life to it... is that really all that evil? Sure what he wants isn't considered good, and his means are awful, but at the end of the day, he thinks that his intentions are clear.

And yet we have the rest of his family, who know that what they're doing kills people, and their profiteering from it. They know that the oil they pump is killing thousands of people, and other life forms, and yet what they're doing, it isn't for the good of the world, not in anybodies mind, but they're doing it simply for their own selfish needs.

Who, out of the Bin Laden family, really is the most evil of members?

Now, please let me finish by saying that I am in no way trying to justify what these men have done, in fact, it sickens me. But I think, when it comes to judging evality (my new word), what they've done is only half the criteria, the other half is their reasons behind it.

Most every culture that has existed has had some sort of taboos and common rules.  Killing one another is usually taboo in most all cultures.  Rape is another very widespread taboo.  Hilter covered his arse essentially by saying "The jew is not one of us."  I doubt there are hope there aren't many cultures left that would fall for that.
