I dunno if I'd be excited for another Star Fox game. Command was a big disappointment.

This brings up a good point. |
Well I think Namco did a good job pushing the franchise forward. Of course it would have been better with Nintendo as a developer. But maybe we would not have seen any Starfox without namco. The Multiplayer was great by the way.
Anybody here think Next level game could handle an F-Zero or Starfox game? They seem to have done an incredible job with Punch out.

What the hell did you just say? :P I can't make sense of it.
On a side note, I just looked at your profile and saw that you live in San Diego, so do I and Maynard_Tool (posted above). Where do you go to school? I'm a Junior at UCSD.

I was saying I love assault but it would of been better if Nintendo did it, and Im goin to borin Mese community college
I also hope Stof is wrong about F-Zero, love that game.
I'd argue that the Nintendo 64 version kinda ruins your tech argument. While pushing a fair amount of geometry for it's time, it was ugly as sin and would not have been considered technically good by the vast majority of people. Also, i know the SNES version was the first game to fully make use of Mode 7, but was it really rated as being one of the best looking games on the SNES?
Furthermore, while i agree the Wii Wheel is not a good match i think the nunchuk and wii-mote combination, ala Mario Kart Wii would be more than up to the task, and i say this having played alot of F-Zero GX. With a core franchise like this i think Nintendo doesn't have to worry so much about pushing the Wii's unique control options.
OT, i think Star Fox is more likely than F-Zero.

I think the 64 version kind of reinforces my argument. At the time they made the sacrifices they had to to bring the game in to 3D. Now they have nothing to gain by making sacrifices except a product that might not live up to the expectations of it's fans. Nintendo doesn't want a new F Zero 64 (or X or whatever) . They want an F-Zero GX, and the Wii isn't going to give them that.
As for the wheel/control debate, I just disagree. I really don't think Nintendo wants to update a major franchise and JUST have traditional controls. So instead they focused on a high speed franchise that can have Wii wheel controls. Excite. So we're getting another Excite game instead of an F-Zero. I think it's going to stay that way until at least next Gen.
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
Don't think Wii Motion Plus will be able to work well enough for F-Zero? If the problem is precision and so bad that WM+ won't cut it then yeah, we're probably looking at the first gen since the SNES without an F-Zero.
@Stof: "As for the wheel/control debate, I just disagree. I really don't think Nintendo wants to update a major franchise and JUST have traditional controls."
Nintendo, in particular Miyamoto (i think) specifically stated that they never intended for motion controls to be forced into games where they didn't belong, rather only in games where they enhanced the experience. Smash Bros was very clearly designed around a traditional controller even if there was the option for other control schemes in the game.
@Khuutra - Yeah, M+Might. but I don't think we're going to see that get used for too many Racing games. It's not like it will fit in the wheel, and I doubt Nintendo is going to want to release a second wheel to accomodate it.
@hsrob - Yeah, but Smash Bros and F-Zero are too very different franchises. It goes to my graphics argument. Brawl looks great, but F-Zero would need to be more than just a slight bump from the Cube game. I just don't see a new F-Zero coming until there's hardware that can give the series a serious advancement. I think F-Zero is going to take it's Metroid break.
