I cant fault reggie for speaking out because he needs to "keep it real" for all of the people who still want to defend the wii as a typical videogame system in the historic sense.
But, as ive said in all of comments regarding the wii, the wii is where it is because of A) loyal "hardcore gamers" still in love with zelda, mario galaxy/brawl, metroid and wii fit, wi sports, wii ski, carnival games, wii play.
The fact of the matter is some companies make great games and have pride in graphics, physics, draw distance online functioning and their roots.....the wii may not offer that to all companies and their image. The Wii's image, for example, the pharmacists i work with in their mid 40's talking about how the wii is going to be pissed when they play the wii fit tonight because they havent been on in a month may be a catch 22 for Reggies feelings.
It seems nintendo tasted gold with wii sports, wii fit and the boom of the wii and success of carnival games and the such that now they may have to just deal with companies releasing ports of year old games to appease the minority of wii owners that give a shit about traditional games.
The wii, whether we, you (in a general sense) and Reggie like it or not has its own stigma now attached to wii sports, the pack in game, and wii fit etc. Now theyre probably just going to have to deal with it. Im sure when their fiscal reports come out reggie behind closed doors isnt going to really give two shits about RE5 not being on the wii, but he needs to feed the angry hardcore that still want to cling to the fact the wii is a traditional system with traditional "hardcore" games. Thus we get this statement.
Sure, it may not hurt capcoms bottom line to release all of their games across the board, but sometimes i still think companies really like flexing their epeen and the wii simply does not allow it. Bottom line. it would be passable no doubt as exemplified in the RE4 port.
As a PS3 owner and fan of blockbuster games such as fallout, RE, killzone, halo, gears im very grateful that companies are sticking to their roots. The wii isnt for me and im very glad that companies arent sacrificing what makes me love videogames for the cash cow that is nintendo all the time.
