I'm sorry.... ? How do you INCREASE the value of a console by keeping its price higher? Oh and BTW if they keep the same price until mid 2010... their sales will have dropped....hard! |
I'm perfectly fine with the consoles sales dropping hard.
It takes a lot of money to drop prices. That money can be better spent by increasing the consoles value. Basicly putting more quality content on it.

I guess you could continue to fund first/second party game development, release additional features through firmware updates, and continue to improve your online experience. It seems to be Sony's direction, and I approve.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.

SE will not release ffxiii on a 412 dollars system. ffxiii exclusive in japan means price cut just before holydays . thats what i think.

Blind Faith is Microsoft announcing a great 2009 exclusive lineup at E3.
Microsoft had a significant price cut last year. They also closed down some internal studios, laid-off 1,400 EDD employees, and don't really have any significant 2009 third party exclusives. Sony would probably be forced to make similar decisions in order to cut their price now. As a PS3 owner, those are decisions I don't want Sony to make.

dbot summed it up pretty well, and add to that the precarious situation, in terms of finance, of Sony; a price-cut is definitely not pn the cards.
Besides Sony is a company, and like all companies it is there to make money. It's not some organisation which is built to spread happiness in the world; therefore why would Sony want t sell PS3s to more people at a bigger loss?

sony are best of riding it out til end of year. sure they wont sell as much as 360 but thats the way it goes there beaten on price, in the meantime they nedd to carry on bringing great new content to ps3e owners.......and when they move to 45mm chipset they should be able to afford price cuts before xmas.........i dont see what the big fuss is about nintendo microsoft and sony are businesses they each have to do whats best for them.
