Forums - General - Rise of atheism: 100,000 Brits seek 'de-baptism'

^once again another jumps to conclusions about how i will present god to my child

do you picture her strapped to a chair while Hymns play in the back ground and I beat her with a bible screaming at her to repent for her sins and let god in?

Why is there so much hate amongst your crowd?

Why is there so much anger?

The most I will ever do is make her go to church with her family on Sundays even if she might not want to b/c even if she does not want to listen to the message she still needs to have a that family time

I think you guys should let go of some of your stereotypes, let a little anger go, and stop trying to spread your what appears you doctrine of hate

You might find there are some pretty cool things in this world, and wishing my daughter would “revolt” that sounds wrong on so many levels its not even funny

I think you guys are not understanding what each other wants to say?

Mesoteto thinks teaching his daughter religion is good for her while the others want to express that you don't need to teach your children what religion is to make them good persons. Both opinions are ok if you ask me.

Look Mesoteto, I also wouldn't want my daughter to take drugs, etc. but I'd teach her that without using religion. I think my children should be able to decide for themselves. I'm still a person with high values, though.

@ mesoteto - I mean this is the most respectful way possible and I mean to cause no offense. But I felt that in many ways Christians forced me into their religion. Every day in Primary school everyone had to say Christian prayers and sing Christian hymns for half an hour each morning and in scouts we hadf to go to a Church service every month. That is one of the reasons why I'm not a Christian today.

But with regards to your daughter I'm sure that you will be a very good father because I know you are a very nice guy and you just want to do what you believe is best for her interests. I know you on these forums and you seem like a very decent person.

ehh your welcome to your opinion and i respect that fact, its your life to live, but in the end i will continue to do what is best for my child

most religions say that some form(s) of discrimination are ok, is that really the best way to raise a child?

@scifi---that’s a common misconception about Christians, one we also don’t help by having stupid people get really vocal about the hate they try to spew hidden behind twisted passages

But Jesus Christ set what the standard should be for the Christian faith, he often healed those society deemed un pure, or as second class, even going so far as to heal and teach those of different faiths and no faiths

However most of that is overlooked for the older teachings that really shouldn’t be practiced anymore

I am sorry you feel like that and I wish the right words would just pop out of my keyboard to mend that bridge, I hope some day you can patch it up with our faith and know the peace a loving relation ship with Christ can bring….but hat is your path and I cant walk it for you and its not my place you shove you down it and don’t worry I have yet to take offense to anything

I know full well my beliefs are not the norm anymore and know when I bring them out I will usually have to defend against attacks of many types, but I am not ashamed I have faith and will never be
