Religion in England is socialized... or at least it could be argued that way.

The church of England is afterall part of the government.  It's bishops chosen by the Prime Minister.

im not confused at all, quite the opposite, i know exactly what i belive/dont belive in, im tolerant to a point, i think when religous people force there views on others they cross a line, i dont know how that is as bad as someone calling for jihad or whatever your implying, the certificate was originally created for fun, the guy who made it said so in several interviews.

oh and btw, your post is insulting to atheists, makes a sweeping generalisation and takes the certificate out of context

First off, how can you forcefully give anyone any faith?

Beyond that, I'm not saying anyone in this particular thread is attacking anyone's religion ... I have on several occasions asked people why they were Atheists and dug deeper (past the "Because I don't believe in god" comments that are essentially a restating of their religion) and have yet to meet someone who doesn't have the argument devolve into a rant on how evil other religions are (typically with a heavy focus on the Catholic Church).

Well, is it possible you're just asking the people who advertise their atheism and are therefore more likely to have a chip on their shoulder about it?  Not making any accusations, it just seems like that's the type most likely to get into it with someone.

It's not an attack on religion. What it is, is gesture to show your beliefs, whether they be to another religion or no religion at all.

Oh and to those who say it is just breaking a contract with someone you don't believe in so it's pointless WTF ARE YOU GUYS SMOKING!!!!! It's not against something you don't believe in, it is breaking a contract with a group of people who are VERY real. You are not breaking a contract with god, you are breaking a contract with a church... and the last time I checked Christians are real, I've met some and everything.
