What exactly does that have to do with socialism? 

P.S.  Are you SURE?  I can think of a few churches that don't like to let go of members. 

Religion in England is socialized... or at least it could be argued that way.

The church of England is afterall part of the government.  It's bishops chosen by the Prime Minister.
