Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: core gamers can`t never be satisfied

I agree with them on this statement. Developers are constantly busting their balls in developing good games and when the game comes people just complain and nitpick about the smallest flaws, Especially these so called hardcore gamers.

For instance take RE 5, KZ 2 or whatever. Notice how many complain about dumb stuff despite them both being stellar games.

Uncharted 2 is coming along and will be a victim to these hardcores who will find flaws to rip it apart.

Hardcore gaming used to be about learning how a game controls, beating it on its highest difficulty, doing the impossible to impress folks, and all that.

Now hardcore gaming is regulated to complaining about graphics, texture, controls, etc.

People just need to shut up and play games.

I have to wonder if you think Galaxy was easier than SM64 then, because to me it certainly wasn't.

I agree TWRo0 I recently downloaded SM64, which I had never played before. Whilst SM64 started off more difficult than Galaxy did, the difficulty curve then meanders slowly up. The curve is much steeper in Galaxy - even though the first 30 stars are really easy, the last 30 are much harder than in SM64

"Your edit shows you are on a completely different track to me.  The Melee/Brawl comparison isn't what there is to unlock and reach 100% completion, it is to do with the actual gameplay. "

Ahh, if that is what you were meaning then you are correct that i was on a different track to you. Brawl, mostly due to the increased amount of aerial combat, is much more difficult than melee is if you purely want to master a single character, and only use 1 or 2 attacks. The level design also forces you to vary your moves a lot mroe in Brawl than in melee - mostly because if you button bash in Brawl, the level will kill you. Successful mastery of Brawl is much more difficult than mastery of Melee

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Haven't read the interview. Well I tried but she kept evading the question(s) so I stopped reading.

Funny thing is I remember being a wii fanboy and always being angry that I never had any games to play (and little-to-none to look forward to) but now with my ps3, my anger and starvation of quality games has been relieved . Probably sounds like an advertisemnt for the ps3 but I guess my point is courses for horses :)

I personally always have thought of core as something that's not the same as hardcore lol, I think some people have the definitions mixed up for some reason.

cura, you are on crack btw =P PS3 has good games, but the selection isn't nearly as broad, the console itself has very good value if you can afford it though.

Kylie - you can't change definitions as you like them. Core means "older or classic customers". core games are the ones that Core gamers play like mario, zelda and all. If they are easy, hard or not that's not the point and is circumstantial.

Cura - then the problem wasn't the wii but you. I won't argue that the PS3 doesn't has quality games (because it does) but if with that you mean that the wii doesn't have it then I am sorry but that's a lie.

I think the whole labels of "core" "casual" "hardcore" is just stupid as it's way to subjective.

My only issue is if they want to make new IP's thats fine and for sure all for it (like when Pikmin came out or Giftpia,Chibi Robo,Artstyle series Battalion wars,Disaster DOC etc.. but face it Wii fit wii music wii play are stupid.

Stuff like Mario was always aimed at family, zelda was always aimed at something a bit more serious and Metroid was heavily serious. They had that balance.

Now they look like stewart from the Mad TV skit and look dumb then say "look what I can do" then jump around like an idiot and we get rock n roll climber.

Seconded.

Honestly Kylie, what are you doing??

In Nintendo's language, there is no classification of casual or bridge. If a game appeals to those who already play games, it is a core game. If it appeals to non gamers it is called an extended audience game. Any language other than this was created by fanboys who wish to insult the Wii

I bet lots of people like to label Mario Galaxy as a core game.  Core games have real challenge, either by default or as an option.

There is no challenge to the game at all, is has been casualised/dumbed down/made too easy (bits of each).  Bridge game.

Same for Brawl compared to Melee.  Very dumbed down and casualised.

Mario Galaxy? Casual? Really? Try getting every single star as both Mario and Luigi.

SSBB? No fucking way. Try beating Tabuu on intense, you will get your ass handed to you. He's fucking harder than Event Match 51 in SSBM.

Just to clarify I wasn't implying that the wii had no quality games, just not enough to keep me satisfied in the long run.

I still have a wii (likely to be sold in the next few weeks) but derive no way near as much enjoyment out of it as my ps3. That said, it could be the complete opposite for someone else.
