I dont distaste them, I wouldn't review them if I didnt enjoy the funness of them, its just that comparing a PC FPS to a Console FPS and declaring a console FPS superior is a joke.

As for professional leagues, I might rejoin a clan for COD4.. idk, but I competed in way to many leagues and even CPL back in the UT04 days.

That depends completely on taste.  I grew weary of arena deathmatch games.  UT2004's Onslaught was the best part and the mode I played almost exclusively.  Perhaps because it was similar to the gameplay offered in Tribes.  I also have a distaste for dedicated servers.  Tend to enjoy the prospect of matchmaking much, much more.

auto match making works for games like Left4Dead or just to quickly an already in progress match.

I like how Epic did Unreal Tournament 3's server setup where they have a matchmaker ie quick match which will find a server quick for your specific gametype but you also have the server browser where you can manually look for servers that interest you the most.

That is not really what I am talking about.  They do not join you in matches based on skill level.  And they also do not close the match teams down after game starting.  That is basically just an auto game finder.  There is a difference.

Actually, that is one of the problems I had with Left4Dead.  One being the lack of a party system(which I also loved dearly in Halo 3), and the second being that people constantly quit and join up on the other team, but I guess since they do not really track wins and losses in that game, it doesn't really matter.  The other being the crouch in corner and melee technique.

fixed at least in versus in the latest patch

This is a short anecdote which I rememebr so vividly and it is impossible for it to happen in ANY console shooter:

Im in the cross in Rankin , the one leading to the 100 shield the flak and the rocket launcher. 3 people come from me at those directions. I shoot an orb at the rockets, and 1 at the shield. By the blessing of luck I turn back to the rocket guy and hit my orb, 1 kill, turn to the shield dude (no shield) hit THAT orb, Double Kill, turn around switch to flak and 1 shot the guy shooting me from that side, Multi kill. Charge up 3 rockets on the way to the flak arena, shoot them at the flak and kill 1 more, Mega Kill.

That just doesn't happen in a console shooter.

While that is impressive.  Why is that not possible on consoles?  I have gotten a killionaire(kill 10 people within 4 seconds of each other) before in Halo 3.

It's not about killing lots of people really fast (I've gotten multiple H O L Y S H I T ! ! !). It's about HOW I did it.

Not really seeing what is so special about that anecdote.  The only thing that really sticks out is the pulse combo, but that is only because there really isn't any weapon equivalent like that in other games.  Not because stuff like that cannot be done.

LOL.  Yes, you make a valid point.  This doesn't happen all that often to me though.  Especially in ranked lists.  There are strengths and weaknesses of each type.  I just prefer the idea of matchmaking.  This could be done via dedicated servers, it would just be a lot harder to implement than P2P.

And I definitely enjoy the domination of people in a short amount of time as well.

this is like ps3 vs xbox 360 but even more pointless

@vlad321

Please tell me your joking about console shooters taking no skill. I'm sorry but you clearly have no idea what constitutes skill in a shooter. If you think you could come even close to any MLG pro even with a year of practice then your clearly delusional. Please tell me what level and matchmaking category you were playing in, that you were able to constantly come out on top? I'll play you 1v1 in Halo PC if you really want and if you can even get 2 kills on me I'll declare you right and console shooters inferior to PC. If you want to really know about competitive gaming try going to mlgpro.com and reading up a bit. There's a reason why Halo is used as the flagship title for the largest professional console league in the world.

Honestly if you truthfully want to know what makes Halo competitive I would be glad to send you a pm and explain in detail, although its going to be a really long post since there's so much depth to the game.

I have only played Halo on the PC once but dear god was that embarassing. It's easier than fishing in a bucket using dynamite with the mouse. If I find a copy I will gladly school you in it.

LOL.  You played a game once and declared that it is like fishing in a bucket?  I could see that since the character movement is not as fast that hitting people in the head is trivial, but everyone playing has a mouse, so not sure what your point is.  The only explaination for your easy wins are the people you played with.

That is a pretty bold statement, and by bold I mean full of BS.

If Halo was really that easy for anyone personally, they'd be on the competitive circuit making enough to game professionally full time, complete with endorsements.

If playing against novice players, sure, anyone with above average skills is going to win consistently (skill being something necessary to win as in it is not a game requiring no skill to play), but nobody actually uses this as proof of how good they are because everyone else was so awful.

You want to claim you entered a pro Halo tournament and dominated without having previously played the game? Not unlikely or even improbable. It's impossible.

Console, PC, gamepad or mouse/keyboard; makes no difference. Competitive skill level is going to be high regardless of platform or interface on a professional level.

You can aim easier with a mouse? It probably goes without saying that EVERYONE ELSE on a competitive level can too. That doesn't make the game any easier against equally skilled players without a handicap.
