It seems we have gone off topic, and are now on gun control, so I will throw in my 2c. The Constitution gives us the right to bare arms so we can rise up against an unjust Government. I always hate the argument "No one need an automatic weapon to hunt". We are given the right so we can hunt, we are given the right so we can kill people if need be.

The founding fathers knew the nature of man far better then we do. They knew that if left unchecked, men in power would do unjust things.

So until you change the constitution to say we don't have the right to upraise against an unjust government, I should be afforded any weapon I feel I need.

The founding fathers were half right. Men in power have destroyed our country. Giving us the right to bare arms did nothing to stop them.

I thought it was at Healthcare not gun control. Also the bolded statement makes me laugh. If the government did get the army to go against you, you wouldn't be able to do shit to stop it with you 9mm guns.

what freedoms....how about this forced volunteering bill obama is trying to get through, how about socialized medical(which will send health care down the tubes), how about our rights to bare arms that is slowly being taken away...i could go on....the thing is, is that i love this county and so respect all of those who have fought to keep it and it saddens me to think where it may end up. im not saying that we have lost all our freedoms i just think that we need to do what we can to make sure that we dont....this is still a great county and i just pray that it will continue to be....

We have socialized medicine in Canada ,and we on average live four years longer than americans.  Care is provided to everyone at half the cost per capita compared to the us even though in the us not everyone recieves care.

In 2005, Canada spent 9.8% of GDP on health care, or US$3,463 per capita.

In 2005, the United States spent 15.2% of GDP on health care, or US$6,347 per capita.

If you truly cared about your fellow american you would want them to recieve the care they need and not what they can afford.

You really should get stricter gun controls.  Drugs go down from canada, while illegal firearms come up.

The army is made up of the people ;). By the time it came to that, there would not be much army.

Exactly, so how exactly will government take over without the army?

It's not government that needs to take over, it's the people who need to take over government.

I am not suggesting we are there yet, but as out founders predicted, that day will come. When it does, weapons will be needed.

Vlad: Power is derived from the consent of the people. Jefferson saw some of the unjust actions we are seeing today as he did in his time and stated: "From time to time the tree of Liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Power is cyclical as is history. Gov't works for us, not the other way around. Gun ownership is essential to that end to keep the checks and balances.

Socialized health care is better then what we have today. No question. But socialized health care is worse then what we could have.

People who are against socializing health care don't want to just keep it the way it is. Everyone realizes it's gone horribly wrong.

I am for no restrictions. The right to bear arms should not be infringed at all and if the terrorists or bad guys want to shoot people then we should have the guns to stop them. VA is piss poor for gun rules now. A guy has to be in your house robbing it whithin like 10 feet of you and you can only injure him. That's makes good sense libs Anyway, CQB is Close Quarters Combat.

So wait, let me get this straight. You are for being allowed to shoot someone at will... I think you dan't make sense. In fact I think that's sick that you want to be able to injure someone with a gun.

That's exactly what I'm asking. Withuot the army, why would we need to even put an effort in taking over the government? They won't be able to resist without the army itself, which as you pointed out, is made of people.

No I am not for random shooting.  I am for being able to defend yourself.  When I get a house and possibly a family and some son of a bitch comes in to steal and get his jollies I should have the right to seriously fuck him up.  You can let the "nice" Mr. Robber point his .32 @ you and tell you what to do as he steals your stuff and hurts your family.  As for me, the guy would be 6 ft under and in Texas that is just fine and legal too
