Forums - Sales - Nintendo Wii owners, it's time to acknowledge third party failures

No, I will never cede a point. I'm playing to win.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I will admit that I didn't read the op or click any of the links. With this in mind, I will say that I just ate some tasty cookies and demand a sequel to the ninjabread man.

I wonder how many people will actually click on those links. =P

Nobody but you and me it seems.

"All those excuses are lame and have no base in reality whatsoever. When a game doesn't sell a million units, it's the fault of the userbase who prefers to buy crappy games over quality."

I disagree with this 100%. When a game doesn't sell a million units, it' the fault of the game that can't appeal to it's consumers. Seriously, why would you blame the consumers for not buying a product? Many people didn't buy a PS3, is that thier fault? No, the PS3 is just NOT what the consumers want.

It is the consumers that determine quality, not those who make it. Customers will buy what they feel is the best thing for them to buy. If you think customers are stupid then yo're obviously not going to be able to successfully run a business very long. You DO NOT make games for yourself, you DO NOT make games for the press, you make games for the customers, your audience.

The fault is entirely on the 3rd parties, who have no idea how to sell to Wii owners. But that's okay. It's alright to have experimental failures. As long as they keep trying to understand the Wii Market, the third party failures are ok. But most 3rd parties are frustrated, scared, or ignorant of the Wii and refuse to learn how to sell to the Wii Market. They're only hurting themselves. As long as they keep trying they'll find out what the Wii audience really wnts, and they can capitilize on those values and standards, and they will sell millions.

I would have waited until after the release of the Conduit to make this Thread, Right Rol.

Hehe; you have no dignity, sir.

@Soriku & OkeyDokey

Do click them, there's the fun part

Despite this being a joke thread, i personaly believe that the wii core userbase is more talk than anything else. We always actually cry over the lack of huge 3rd party ips, but then again we never give those 3rd parties any reasons for them to port those games or make new entries for the Wii specifically.

Most games should have done better if ya ask me. Of course this is debatable, but when a fairly good games with average reviews going in the 80%'s don't even sell 50k after one month of being on the world market, you have to wonder what's going on ( Referring to Deadly creatures of course, excuses like it's a niche genre game don't cut it for me).

If i lose access to this profile as well....I'm done with this site.....You've been warned!!.....whoever you are...

Happy Wii60 user. Me and my family are a perfect example of where hardcore meets casual and together mutate into something awesome.

so this is a whole "I know you are but what am I" thread? What did the HD consoles do to you rol, seriously.

I always kinda knew MadWorld is not gonna be successful. Your granny is not gonna pay/play that :)

Although COD:WAW is an exception IMO cause activison did very little marketing for the wii version so it was selling much slower than the other two versions until they started airing the wii version alone on TV, then it startd selling nicely and reached a million.

I am accepting the fact that games just dont sell but i still believe that any game (so as long it was made right) can sell as long it has marketing, not just on the web but on TV cause TONS of gamers do watch TV since they need one obviously for their games. Unless if they're PC gamers then they can get all the info of all the upcomming games at the comfort of their computer. the excuse i hate the most is that they call it a niche game.
