Damage control. This game is heaps better than that crap Carnival Games, yet it only did 70k first week....

And why is it a thread like this always pops up whenever a 3rd party game that SHOULD be good, essentially flops? If it happens enough times, what you're trying to argue against must be true to some extent.

I mean, look at Zack and Wiki: "Oh, you can't calim victory. It's JUST a point and click adventure game"

NMH: "You can't claim victory. It's SUCH a niche game"

House of the Dead: "You can't claim victory. It's JUST a rail shooter"

and now MadWorld......

Since when does quality sell games?

That's not the case on any platform perse. Please check the best sold games on PS2.

Valkyria Chronicles and Star Ocean aren't doing too hot either. No More Heroes is the best sold game of that producer ever, to call that a bomb is ridiculous. Overkill has set records for lightgun games in Europe, I'm sure that's a bomb in your world, but not in the real one.

MadWorld indeed doesn't have a strong opening, but there are numerous cases on wii where legs have created serious sales. And indeed it's a cell shaded bloodfest. That IS extremely niche. It's not like games like these were million sellers on the almighty PS2 after all.

If you want a test: The Conduit. That has a massive (relatively) budget, is a mainstream genre and should be among the top quality titles on Wii. That should become a million seller. Call me when it doesn't, but please don't call until the game's out for two months.

Looking back, this game was hyped, advertised and reviewed very well. This was the first of many games Wii fans were sheering for as to show these types of games sell well on the wii. But, if I have to wait until 2010 to claim this game was a success, what is it now?

MadWolrd got the occasional mention on threads, didn't make it into any site's most important games of 2009 lists, and most predictions for sales of it were in the 500,000 range so I'm not sure how hyped the game was ... Its marketing was a great improvement over what we saw from games like No More Heroes, but it was still a very targeted campaign which (mostly) ran on small networks on off-peak hours so its not like it was a major campaign ... It has been reviewed well (average review score of about 85%) but it will probably not even be in the list of the top 10 highest reviewed Wii games of 2009 so I'm not sure how much the reviews will factor into sales.

Now, anyone who has paid attention to this game knows that it is very short and (potentially) not worth the $50 purchase price, there are issues and it can be very repetitive, it has a very distinctive artistic style (which could hurt sales), and it is a pretty niche genre ... Why don't you consider these factors when analyzing its sales?

It's not fun when its a game on your console is it?

Its a lot more fun when its Haze, Lair, or Too Human. Basically as long as its not on Wii it's okay with you.

Oh Noez it doesn't sell that well now I am not going to enjoy it *Sniff*.

Well we define the progress of the game's sales by logical arguments not by outbursts of rage because the console of our choice is in the bottom of the console "food" chain and we need desperate killer IP to rejuvenate the console war to turn the tide.

On the other hand you bash the sales but you are also gamers that play that kind of games, why didn't you bought it? It's a great game we all agree on that but non of you that bash it because of the sub par opening sales haven't even played MadWorld......Your profanity have led you to ignore good games, like this one, so you can bash them on the internet and pray for a good game on a rival console to fail so you can feel alright about yourselfs. You can't even enjoy a good game because it isn't on your console of choice......I pity thee.

MadWorld as a game doesn't represent 3rd party support for nintendo's console and if it can sell and make profit for a publisher. It's about how new IPs can manage to improve our gaming experience with new ideas, art style and gameplay. If MadWorld "bombs" as you all "lamecore fanboys" pray it will not be a hit for the Wii, it won't bring Xbox360 on top and most certainly won't save face for Playstation 3 fad. The only thing that will show is that new IP don't bring profits, games like Okami,Viewtiful Joe,MadWorld will be a lost cause for publishers so they will erase them like all new and fresh ideas and focus on succesful sequels on well known franchises. The result will be us gamers shot ourselfs in the foot with a double barrel shotgun at close range......What a big fucking mess that would be did you ever think of that?

Be careful what are you wishing for because this particular "failure" it will be like a double edge sword for all core gamers.

You know, usually I'd agree with you...but I don't.

For such a long time, Wii fans have been really pretentious. Note first that I'm OBVIOUSLY not talking about all Wii fans, but instead a select group of them. And these people were incredibly annoying. It's not like we all haven't heard the rhetoric of how the Wii is saving the industry, how developers are being destroyed by HD costs, and how the Wii's sales numbers make HD fans cry. I've seen a lot of condescending bullcrap from Wii fans, lots of bragging and jeering.

So you know what? I think it's time for revenge, and if this overhyped game is the opportunity to do it, then so be it.

LULZ THE BITTER TEARZ!!!

How you ever got to be a mod... I have no idea.

That's what I thought too. Is like watching a high school principal drinking beer with the jocks and making fun  of the nerds.

If quality sold games alone,Shenmue would have had six or so games with all 16 chapters and Dreamcast would have never died.

I'm a wii owner and this game doesn't interest me, even if it was on the ps3 I still wouldn't buy it (just like I won't be getting NG2 for ps3).

Sales wise don't look too hot also. However, I don't know what Sega were hoping for...but still, the sales look horrid to me. I don't see this game having legs either.

You guys need to stop talking about MadWorld...
