I will be purchasing a PSP in 2011 (after my Xbox360 in 2010) so this really dosn't affect me, but I think it also won't affect sales too much. THere will be a good increase over a few weeks and it might average out to a couple thousand a week more but the DS will still beat it most weeks pretty handedly
Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.
One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.
Later for these hypothetical "what if" threads! The PSP will never be cheaper than the DS and even if it was, it'd never outsell the DS anywhere but Japan (on a weekly basis) - where it's too late to matter anyways.
There are a lot of people who own one system and wouldn't feel compelled to get another unless the price is right. I own a DS. I would like a PSP as well. If I had to choose between the two I would go for the DS. But if the price drops low enough I can justify a purchase for a PSP. So the answer is yes it would outsell it, because many people who already own a DS will pick up a PSP at that price.
It would probably outsell it in Japan. Worldwide DS would still be outselling PSP. The price difference between the two isn't that great anyway.
Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^
^ It still wouldn't outsell the DS in Japan... not with that gap being what is. Unless you mean it'd outsell it weekly.
Software sells hardware, since Sony admitted that they under supported the PSP, if they bring the software like they claim then it would sale well.
The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!
...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?
