Not to be a jerk, but maybe he should meet my good friend Karl Marx.

To answer the earlier question, Saladin was responsible for the rise of the Arab civilizations in the middle ages and he significantly altered history. If it weren't for him, the European Christians probably would have held the holy lands, meaning culture there would be greatly altered. Not only that, but if it weren't for the Ottoman invasion of Spain, France and Spain would have never allied. The Renaissance would have been delayed or never happened at all. Pretty much all of modern life as you know it was affected by him.
