But Rei is correct. You see, early this gen, I saw a lot of PS3 fans praising Square for the FFXIII titles, and I always saw them listing those titles as big PS3 exclusives. Further into the gen, FFXIII went multiplatform and Square started to release 360 exclusives. Now, we see PS3 fans bitching and moaning about Square for the lack of Square titles in their consoles. Now you know how Nintendo fans feel back then.

And everytime I enter a JRPG 360 thread/news, I always seem to find PS3 fans trolling the game or SE. Blaming MS for "moneyhatting" and "betraying." For once, blame the people who's actually responsible for this: SONY! Early this gen, SE were criticizing Sony for the way they marketed the PS3. They never listened, and it bite them in the ass. If you want HD SE games, buy a 360. Simple as that!

I still like Square. Sure they're not as great as they used to be, but they still release good games.

 

 Please....PLEASE PPL, stop using the Nintendo/Square break up as an excuse. That WAS different. Squaresoft departed from Nintendo to BETTER the quality of their games. COMPLETELY understandable. Is that the case this time? NO, its for greed, or some other undenounced form of stupidity.

Yes, PS3 owners thought the SE was the shit.....then reality kicked in right around the time SE put out 3 games for 360, made FFXIII multiplatform(which everyone knows MP games are nowhere near as good as Exclusive games), and churned out nothing but mediocre games for console and their only promising games being spinoffs or handheld(TWEWY, Crisis Core,etc).

The truth is NO once should be satisfied with SE at this time besides handheld owners. PS3 owners havent got any games, 360 and Wii owners have got nothing but garbage and shovelware.

Its not something that is just in the mind of what some try to deem as "dillusional PS3 fans"!

I thought this topic was going to be about their severe drop in quality (aside from TWEWY). I'm disappointed.

Edit: and FFVII was mediocre. I bought a PS1 for it too. Luckily FFIX redeemed my PS1 purchase by being awesome.

FFVII is the main reason JRPGs became so popular in the first place. You may not like it, but RESPECT IT!

More the 100 million dollar advertising campaign behind it...

and also JRPGS aren't popular.

Final Fantasy is popular in the west... and that's it.  Well and KH which is practically a FF Spinoff.

In Japan DQ is popular, FF is popular and KH is popular.  All were popular long before FF7.

Outside of that nothing is popular.

It's like saying Madden made football games popular when the only football game that sold was Madden.

Sides IGN backs up the drop in quality.

Since quality is relative anwyay.... and IGN is really credible... either you can't judge quality defeating your arguement... or your wrong... or you just claim IGN is wrong.

Either way... my credibility is tied to IGNs.

Just replace Nintendo and PS1 with PS3 and 360, respectfully. Also Star Ocean: LH is so good.

They've always gone to whoever could offer them the best financial incentives.  It was no different in their move from Nintendo to PS1.

Hell SE was Nintendo exclusive only because Nintendo forced them to be by saying if they weren't they couldn't make NES games.

All Main series FFs after FFVII:3+million

Dragon Quest is still a predominantly Japanese loved RPG, not so much in america. FF has universal appeal, most of that came after FFVII.

FF's Before FFVII: bellow 1million
FFVII:3+million in all territories
All Main series FFs after FFVII:1+million

So youre just going to keep putting words into peoples mouths then? The truth is alot of people are satisfied with SE. If you really believe that the games out now are garbage and shovelware then why are you so hurt its not on the PS3?

Anyway this is obviously trolling on SE and current 360 and Wii SE games so reported.

I would say FFVII made a difference....

The massive Sony fronted marketing budget made the difference.

Without it Final Fantasy would be just like DQ.

Also you said it made "RPGS popular"  when it didnt.

DQ being a Japanese only phenomena proves this.

Though only thing Sony's 100 million dollar camaign did was make Final Fantasy popular.

There are 3 RPG series only with universal appeal.

Pokemon, Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.

It made nothing popular but Final Fantasy.

Games like Persona for example owe nothing to FF7.
