Nintendo's developement process is one of the most secretive on the planet. No one could even speculate that the Wii's hardware was like before its launch. Not a single Nintendo rumour has ever come true, I think.

Nintendo's next console won't be "HD" - but it will support>576i resolutions. What do I mean? That Nintendo won't trumpet it as a feature in the media.

That article is from before Wii's launch. 5 years from then would be Nintendo's very next console, which Miyamoto says "Of course I think five years down the road it would be pretty much a given that Nintendo would create an HD system".
